So, I enjoyed the book, but Liz was so annoying with her whining and stubbornness. There were times I wanted to shake her and say you are going to get yourself killed - stupid.
That said, Vincent is a jerk too - who really wasn't explaining anything to her and just expecting her to come along with him.
A lot needs to be sorted out between the two of them before I will like either one....more

The setup for the book I enjoyed. I liked the world and characters as well as the story.
The thing is, it needed TONS of editing. If the author would do that and reprint, it could be a really good book. The main things were run-ons, and incorrect synonyms (waist vs. waste, ruff vs. rough, since vs. sense etc...) The thing that drove me most crazy was the tendency of the author to make two words out of words that should be one. It was odd - something I haven't seen like this before. (lay out vs. layout, over time vs. overtime, back ground vs. background out fit vs. outfit etc..). The thing is these issues were all over and it was incredibly distracting from a story which I really could have liked even more if the book had just been proofed and edited). I see it is no longer available on amazon so maybe there COULD be another cleaned up edition?...more

I really enjoyed this story and Colin's experiences as puberty takes on a whole new meaning for him. I hope he will have more adventures, the setting is wonderful and there are so many secrets yet to uncover!...more

This book had a lot of elements I liked. The characters were interesting and believable. But the story needed fleshed out more.
And now for the part I found most difficult - the book needed serious editing. Allot instead of A lot, There instead of Their etc... It was distracting from my enjoyment of the story. But those things are fixable and hopefully if there is a 2nd part, I will enjoy it more...more

This is a story of a lowcountry legend I had never heard of before. Vampire? Shapeshifters? Plat-eyes are definitely evil. And the losses tremendous and sad. I loved Annie and her fighting for friends and trying to stop evil.

When I say Jay is damaged, I mean really damaged. Great fear and guilt. Barely able to feed without a meltdown. Sometimes despite sympathy, I was really annoyed with him. And yet I still wanted him to get better.
There is a lot of world building in the book as well, Rael Shaa (werewolf like companions), dimensional travel, Mages. This is the part that really intrigued me and left me wanting more.
The horrors of the evil vamp and his victims were intense as was the scene when they caught up with him. There were a lot of elements that came together nicely for me, despite an intense to shake Jay and some of the vamps who were supposed to be helping him. But I was totally engaged in the story and that is what I loved....more

One of the things about Urban Fantasy is how well the world built by the author, supports the story. I was impressed by the relations of the Lupi, various magical beings and the Police and Government's portrayals in this story.
