I liked the multiple points-of-view and character backgrounds. I’m still thinking about Pecola, Claudia, and Frieda. This was very difficult to read but definitely a must-read!...more

We then follow her journey as she unravels the truth about Claire’s death and rediscovering herself at the same time.
I admired Sal’s courage. Moving to a new town and starting a new life while grieving the death of her best friend. It was a roller coaster ride and I was rooting for her. I was glad she got what she deserved. Also, I’ve finally found someone who doesn’t like pumpkin spice latte. My favorite was definitely the friendship between Sal and Claire. It was precious and sweet. We got to know more about Claire through flashbacks. She’s loyal and her love for Sal was unconditional. The secondary characters were great too. I was not really a fan of the romance mainly because I didn’t feel the chemistry between Sal and the love interest. I was also more invested in Sal’s life and journey. I’m pretty sure most of us (especially millenials) can relate to her struggles and achievements. I know I did.
This book is very atmospheric. I loved the cosiness and warmth I felt while reading it. It just shows how talented the author is. I appreciated how she handled some heavy topics in this book as well. There were some slow parts but overall, I thought this was a satisfying and heartwarming read. This book is about friendship, found family, and finding your true self.

She doesn’t have any idea what she’s getting into but she will do everything to defend her sister’s position. Even if it means dealing with Dion and his strong opinions.
Ellie and Dion are both very relatable characters. Both loyal, loving, and quirky. I wasn’t sure about Dion at first but I ended up liking him and his character. I enjoyed the banter and the chemistry between the two. This book is also about family. The unconditional love they have for their families are admirable. One of the things I appreciate about this book is the author’s effort on raising awareness about endometriosis. This was a charming and a heartwarming read. It has slow-burn romance, PTA drama, heartbreaking scenes, and of course, a lot of food!...more

I enjoyed the vivid food description and the complex characters. This book is inspired by “the konkatsu killer so I was expecting a thriller book but it’s more than that. Eventhough the focus is not entirely on the murders, I still appreciate the author’s way of exploring important themes such as feminism, obsession, and body image....more

We have the same characters but this time we were able get to know them more. The previous book focused on Takako’s journey finding herself while the second book is more about the bookshop and how it connects the lives of the people around it. Japanese books and authors were mentioned just like in the first book. I added some of the titles on my tbr list. I was not expecting to get emotional while reading this book. Despite of the heavy themes, this is still a cozy and a comforting read....more

I enjoyed the banter between Sophie and Max especially the namecalling. lol It's very relatable. The Objector plot was pretty unique and interesting but it got pushed into the background. Also, the conflict towards the end was a little weak. Overall, it's a fun and light romance read....more
