To me this was a more ponderous text, dealing with larger topics. I am especially intrigued with the idea of God leaving... just gone, leaving the angels to worry and blame it all on mankind's progress....
Again I liked Prior, though I think Belize became more of a draw for me. There's wisdom in that there queen....more

I read this book and finished the last page with goosebumps racing their way across my arms. I was sad to see it done, and utterly thrilled that I have part two waiting on my bedstand.
This is a marvelous piece of writing. I haven't read many plays, pretty much restricted to Shakespeare so far, so I can't compare it to much else... not that I need to. Good writing is good writing, riveting storytelling, etc...
The characters in this play are wonderfully realized, completely separate from each other. I love Prior, of course, poor Prior (and half the source of my goosebumps!), poor Louis, poor Joe and Harper... I loved Belize, and Roy, well... Roy. You don't want a play where all the characters are lovable!
Highly recommended. This play prompted me to add "a play a year" to my yearly reading....more
