I've been a fan of his since finding him on Instagram. I love his carefree, chaotic, lived in, haphazard, seemingly unchoreographed style. Every photo he posts on Instagram I just sit and stare, hoping to absorb some of the magic he seems to serve effortlessly. There's just no way I could plop a pot of geraniums on top of a pile of books and have it look anywhere near as charming! There's SO MUCH to take in and I'm thrilled to be able to have a book available and at my fingertips for whenever I feel I need a fix.
When I'm looking at his photos full of flowers, books and all sorts of knick knacky things, I always wish I knew someone with an English cottage like his in my country. I could literally spend hours there just nosing around. If you're on the fence about buying, take a look at his Instagram account and you'll have a great idea of what you're purchasing. I doubt you'll be disappointed. English charm overload!!! ...more

Her more recent books I've really enjoyed ~ her writing style is so comfortable and engaging ~ they're easy, captivating reads. The characters in 'The Distance Between Us' are a mess and dare I say even toxic (at least the sisters relationship.) Lots of things left unresolved even at the end.
The main characters lives don't intersect until at least midway thru the book (I think?? I wish I'd marked it.) There's so much back and forth between places, times, characters, etc., that it takes quite a bit of reading and jumping from chapter to chapter, to firmly know who was who and what was going on. I almost put it down. Even tho I pushed thru to the end, I can't say I ever got truly invested in any of the main characters. I would more strongly recommend Ms. O'Farrell's later novels (over this one) if you're new to her writing and want to check out one of her books....more
