The romance isn’t my favorite since it’s almost a fated kind of romance. Honestly, the romance is very light / almost nonexistent here.Rosy spends most of the book fighting her feelings and as such, she and Shaw don’t spend a whole lot of time together. Aside from the witch/familiar aspect, it was a little hard for me to buy into a relationship where they literally have to pledge their life to the other, basically? But I’m really hoping we get more on that front in the sequel. I did like Shaw and it seems as though the next book will be her pov and I’m looking forward to that.
I don’t feel qualified to speak on the magic and other stuff like that since this is out of my wheelhouse. I was simply here for the ride. ...more

Or actually, not so little because I think it was close to 500 pages? I enjoyed this for the most part. I will say the way Poppy acted sometimes got a little over the top. I also didn't love the way she treated and acted toward Roisin all the time. But I loved the Brood and the found family aspect. My biggest issue is a me thing. But once the main character has feelings for the love interest I have no desire to see them have sex with others. I know they're vampires and blah blah blah but I don't need to see it on page. p.s. The poor hares, I was so sad for them. ...more

It has some cute moments but I had issues with how the author handled things. Morgan thinks she has accidentally given Rory a love potion instead of a relaxation potion. Instead of just telling her about it, she decides to prove how incompatible they are. Not only that, but she acts like an asshole and does all these things she knows Rory doesn't like. She just came across as really childish. I honestly couldn't see why Rory would stick around, even after Morgan tells the truth. ...more

I really did enjoy this but there were some issues that bugged me. The first half was too slow and I didn’t love the almost insta-relationship. Then the last half was almost too much and got very convoluted. And why was Clara just so dumb so often?!?
However, I adored the letters and the secondary romance. I really hope we get to see more of them in the second book. ...more

I liked this well enough but it also got on my nerves a little? For one, I didn’t need like 5 or 6 different pov’s! I hate that. Also, it felt too slow for big portions of the book and not much was explained. Freaky and creepy though, so if that’s your thing you might like this.
Also, this area is very close to my hometown. Actually, my hometown is mentioned in the book. So parts of this made me laugh because me and my cousins used to think there were monsters in the woods behind our houses. ...more

Ronnie Sharp (blurb says Smart?) and Peyton Stanford are reality tv hosts. Ronnie is the host of a cooking show and Peyton hosts a paranormal investigation show. Neither is thrilled when the network decides to have them film three crossover episodes, with the last one being filmed live, to boost ratings. It starts off on the wrong foot when Ronnie admits she doesn’t believe in ghosts or spirits.
I thought this was a fun, creepy read to start off October. Peyton finds “residual energy and gets it to leave whatever it may be haunting. Some of these energies are not happy to be leaving and cause quite the fuss. There is a lot of time spent at these crossover events and it goes into great detail. So, if spooky and creepy ghosts are your thing, you’ll probably really enjoy this. It doesn’t ever get scary but I was creeped out a little.
My only real issue was the lack of romance. Because so much time is spent filming the episodes, there’s not a lot of time left for the romance to develop. Almost all of their time together is while they’re working and while there is some mild flirting going on, it’s not serious. They do spend a little time together and they have a lot of off-screen communications but we don’t see most of that. I would have preferred less time spent on the investigations and more on them together.
I recommend this if you’re looking for an amusing Halloween read that doesn’t spend too much time on the romance.

“Enchanted Autumn is a paranormal romance by debut author Ursula Klein.
Hazel and Roxy are best friends in Salem, Massachusetts. They are together when they meet a visiting history professor, Elizabeth. Hazel and Roxy are both interested in Elizabeth but she’s more interested in Hazel. Hazel is quite happy with this until she realizes that even though Elizabeth is in town researching the witch trials, she doesn’t actually believe in witches or magic or any of that nonsense. The problem for Hazel is that she is most definitely a real witch. Not only that, she has a vampire for an ex-girlfriend and her house has a friendly ghost living there.
This was an interesting read for me. Even though there are otherworldly beings (what they preferred to be called) besides humans, most of them hide who they really are in public. It’s mentioned that there’s a community of otherworldly beings but we meet exactly one witch, one vampire, one ghost and one fae, which kind of amused me honestly. I would have liked to see more of the magical world than what we got. This was more contemporary where one of the main’s just happens to be a witch than anything else.
By the cover you can tell this is on the lighter side of things. There’s a couple of different love triangles going on with different characters, though none are too serious. The biggest issue is how Elizabeth will react when she finds out magic really does exist and that Hazel is a witch. Hazel hides from the world but doesn’t want to hide her true self from her love so she’s torn about what to do.
The reason I didn’t love this more was a couple of different things. I’m not a fan of point of views outside the two main love interests so the fact that we also get Roxy’s point of view annoyed me. She generally annoyed me so having her pov really didn’t help things. I also wasn’t a fan of Elizabeth. She comes off snobby and rude several different times and I just never warmed up to her.

This was a fun October read! Three teenage vampires set out to get revenge and kill the one vampire who turned them while also trying to stop him from turning another girl.
I’m not huge into vampires but this was fun. There was a lot of gore and tearing limbs off and whatnot. I wasn’t sold on the romance as they spent little time together before they started proclaiming feelings for one another. But it was still a solid read. Overall entertaining and made me laugh a few times. ...more
