I wanted them to expose who Cordelia’s‘s father was. I wanted to know what happen with ellen‘s father. I wanted to know who the horse was before it became familiar. I wanted to know about Evangeline’s magic. I did not need to hear Hester refuse to Mary Richard for the 17th million time. I did not need to keep hearing about Hesters knees. I didn’t need to keep hearing about Cordelia’s‘s fear. Cordelia was a coward the entire book. She is one of the most unlikable characters in the book. The mothers wickedness it’s never explained. Her magic is never explained. They just vanquish her magic with no further information. Penelope with the greatest character in the whole book and she’s gone far too soon. The servants were also very interesting but again, not enough time spent especially with Alice. Imogene was a nice touch but Hester’s brother was pretty worthless....more

Beauty’s storyline was very stale and predictable. As was Edgar’s. The fact that Godnutter never explained herself or her curses and actions seems dumb considering this book was 400 pages. If white magic fixes everything why is everyone so scared to use it or refusing to make more (snowy). The nicknames are obnoxious, as are the men with their ever changing affections. The men just switch women in this series like a gossip girl episode. ...more

I can’t give it four because I had to skim more often than I should have because of the repetition. The constant tea and everyone using each other’s names, especially hermione and Draco. If I’m reading three to six pages of just granger and malfoy, why are they using each other’s name, every other sentence?
That being said this book is very sweet and refreshing, aside from my complaints. I was worried a romance would develop while she was at hogwarts but that doesn’t happen. I like that Ron isn’t a total POS in this and that there are minimal loses to the good side. I love that snape protects Draco and Harry as if he’s taken over for dumbeldore, like in the original. This is a quick and pleasant read. ...more

#1. What did Tom do exactly ? He’s abusive and controlling but there seems to be a secret and unless I skipped over it, I missed it. #2. Why does daisy allow Catherine to attend gatherings since she always invites Tom and myrtle? They should have been banned from the Gatsby house immediately. #3. Why doesn’t Jordan slap the shit out of myrtle? #4. The sex scene with daisy biting Gatsby’s ass and balls wasn’t hot at all. Neither was him biting her clit. #5. What happened to the glutton that scratched daisy #6. What happened to all of the vampires killed and why did we get a summary of what daisy said to the head vamp instead of details. It’s clear she’s using him to vent on Tom, but we still don’t know what Tom DID #7. Why is Tom such a villain when all they had to do was ban him from the parties.
I will continue reading RK’s work but I hope the next one is better. ...more

I thought I would rate it a solid 4 stars but the more I read the more the story was ruined. First off, the book is way too long. Second, the dialogue is so repetitive and boring. Third, how many fucking redemption arches are we going to have ????? There are multiple rapists, most of which are allowed to be forgiven for some odd reason and one of the more likable characters technically sexually assaults someone. What Bronson does with Theo isn’t consensual or okay. The horcrux are randomly throw into the mix and explained in two pages then 15 chapters later, surprise, Bellatrix (who btw strongly supports her husband being a rapist, and wants to rape Bronson) is a horcrux too ! All of the whining and crying and boring sex scenes. Harry is weak, Ginny is a werewolf & Ron is his typical horrid self. Hermione is crying in every single chapter and everyone can apparently just side step killing curses. This book was extremely immature and childish at times. The amount of temper tantrums thrown and the language. Draco bringing multiple women home. The cigarettes. The way no one really properly flips out over how the death eaters treated women. The constant build up to the confrontations between Ron Draco harry ginny Theo Bronson quigley Lucius and even Voldemort all for them to be so incredibly underwhelming and just cringe or lame. I hated the author’s little notes in each chapter and her playlist for the big battle was shite.

Easily one of the worst books I’ve ever read and thats saying a lot considering I read fifty shades of grey. This book was mind numbingly repetitive. Same conversations. Same smirks. Same nicknames. Same fights. Same sex scenes. Over and over. Beyond boring. I started skimming pages 60-75% through and missed nothing. Maybe if the book had been half the length I could have given it 2 stars ⭐️ but that would really just be my appreciating that the name Cordelia was used. I blame book tok for this lemon. ...more

Too many redundant conversations and repetitive sex scenes. This version of Hermione is so annoying, however the Draco was likable. Lucius and narcissa were both likable. The trauma pansy went through was so unnecessary. There’s a big gaping hole where this author could have cut back on the sex scenes and told us how or why Ginny was/became Voldemort’s favorite. Hermione dropped the discussion regarding Luna too easily and moved on from it way too fast for me. Why didn’t Hermione hug Narcissa sooner. Why doesn’t she say thank you without demanding more. I don’t think I will read anything else from this author. It’s just not for me. ...more

Some parts were interesting, I originally enjoyed malfoy’s journaling but it’s so repetitive. The way he talks about Hermione is just ridiculous. The fact that he’s still calling her a Cunt after 92% of the book has passed is ridiculous and I’m someone who uses that word pretty often. This book should have been much shorter. The side characters are more interesting and hold the book together. I hated how Hermione always spoke first. She has no patience or self value. However I loved Ginny pansy narcissa and Harry. This was the best writing of Harry I’ve seen in any of the dramione fan fiction I’ve read. This author made her Harry better than the original. I appreciated Ron still being worthless but I didn’t get the rapey aspect of Blaise. The references to the auction are completely pointless and unnecessary and seem to just be added in to make you want to read the auction book. I started the Draco POV for a moment and had to close it. I just can’t. ...more

This book could easily be 200 pages shorter without the crying and passing out and missionary sex and hyperventilating and reaching out - but not touching - in almost every or so very other chapter. I love the story. I love the handmaids tale. I was almost convinced Draco hated her at moments but I also wanted her to stop being so ridiculous. The deaths hurt. A lot. The end of the book is upsetting. Even with my complaints this is an amazing book. I wish someone could make this a series or a movie but honestly it would be heartbreaking to watch. **spoiler alert** This was easily one of the worse books I've read all year, if not ever. I hated the entire book. A lot of reviews focus on the fact **spoiler alert** This was easily one of the worse books I've read all year, if not ever. I hated the entire book. A lot of reviews focus on the fact that the book begins with the main character in a tub of her own period blood. I wasn't bothered by that because I assumed the reasoning would be meaningful and explained. I was wrong. Instead I basically read the same phrases and thoughts over and over again. If you're reading this virtually and word search for "calling, luc, matriarch, hack, & task", you will see those words are almost on EVERY SINGLE PAGE. This author repeated herself so much in the first 5 chapters alone I was infuriated to say the very least and extremely bored to say the most.
I wanted to love this book. I love the cover and the author's message about black girls not always having to be the side characters. We can be the hero. Voya, however is an annoying anti-hero indecisive boring faithless and disloyal main character that could barely keep my interest. She fails every single time she's faced with a task, regardless of how important it is. Voya repeatedly tries to make herself a side character in her own story. She's just trash, the entire family is trash. All of these secrets and unexplained attitudes. I know some people were happy with the trans representation but for me it just felt thrown in there. Just like the silly replacement cuss words/phrases, 'Hack me' and 'get sparked', meanwhile there's a 'shit' thrown in there every 10 chapters or so.
None of Voya's relationships seem genuine. Her cousin/best friend keis (actually Keisha because apparently black witches are not clever enough to give their twin daughters different names) is always short tempered and constantly reads Voya's mind with her gift instead of doing something useful with it. Her father abandoned her & then returned to the family home with a new wife in tote (really steering clear of bad stereotypes there) & he's unexplainably distant from Voya for no apparent reason. Voya's mother doesn't seem too keen on having a meaningful relationship with her daughter either. Keisha, the other twin appears to be shallow and struggles with connection.. it never seems to dawn on her that maybe being close with her twin might help... and of course the 'big momma' figure who has all of these secrets that are actually the reason for the family's difficulties. This book is like a low budget Tyler Perry movie and I'm really annoyed so many people hyped it up.
To save you some time, Voya ruins Keis' life by tying her to the family house instead of killing/destroying Luc's life. Voya decides that Keis was her first true love, not Luc. She has some lame excuse for why she made this terrible choice but the truth is she's flake and disloyal, Keis would have spared Voya and I honestly hope she never speaks to Voya again.
I might read the second book but I'm not sure. I blame black tiktok for wasting my time with this shit....more

I do no understand the hype around this book. Jeannette was abused by her mother and her entire family, since they allowed her mother to do whatever she wanted. I knew no one would help her once she said they were Mormon. It was interesting to read the abused POV and how she constantly navigated her mother’s utter nonsense. I didn’t read about any abuse Jeanette suffered while she worked at Nickelodeon, just the implication of neglect by not giving her aid when she did not ask for help. I am confused as to when her friendship with Ariana Grande started as there’s no mention of a friendship beginning between the two of them during this book. I could’ve done without the 47 chapters about her eating disorder....more
