I thought they would be just something far away, and not really into all the fray. I love it even more for how things are going. This book is action packed all the way. So entertaining, and I absolutely love Matthew. It hurts me how much he suffers, I'm still wishing for him to get strong and kill everyone. lol
And won't add it to my favorites, because the first one was the one that got my heart. But this one is just as good. The development is really satisfying for me....more

there are two things that are crucial for me in books: good writing and the development of the characters relationship.
I wouldn't say the writing is bad, but my main issue here is with ALL of the characters relationships and personality. I don't like any of them. Lay actually annoyed me. Johnathan is also annoying with the "wild one" nickname. Who'd say that with a straight face? It's a no for me. And I don't dislike Aurora, but do I like her? No. The plot actually is good, and the cliff hanger ending was what I liked the most, but is it enough to keep me going with the series? I don't think so.
It's the first time the plot wins over the characters for me. And that sucks because it's like I want to skip all the conversation just to know what's going to happen. I don't care for their "love" story. I don't even care about the smut. In the end, it wasn't an awful book, but it was absolutely boring.
So yeah, I think I got my answer here. I'm not going to go on with the series, or with any books from this author, at least for now....more

Mostly because they're so similar, with the same base for the relationships. I mean, it's almost like reading the same book, with a few divergences. So for me, it end up being boring. And the worst part is I didn't like the characters at all and felt no connection between them, which is something important for me. At least on the first book, I liked Ryan.
Now, I love an apocalyptic book, it's my favorite genre. But to be honest, that's the only thing that did it for me about this story. I really don't like the writing and the way the character's relationship is developed. So shallow. I mean, a few days and you love each other? And I can't get over Haley's personality. She's literally dumb. And shallow. Have I mentioned that? And pet monster? Really??? That's the nickname you came up for the man you love?
And I need to mention that some atitudes from the characters are just stupid. By the end of the book, I was dragging to finish it. Couldn't stand Haley anymore and didn't care at all about how things end up. Actually, I already knew how from the end of book one.
So anyway, I was super excited for a series that had so much potential, with a genre I absolutely love, but unfortunately it's not for me....more

Something is a bit odd to me but I can't quite grasp what it is. I don't know if it's the writing or what, but anyways. I like Ryan. I thought Kelsey would be way more annoying, but she actually grew on me. But not that much. Their relationship is questionable, too insta love for me. I read it in a sitting, so I'd say it's a good book, but there's still something bugging me and I'm not sure yet what it is. Let's keep going and see....more

I'm SO EXCITED. This book is amazing. honestly, I was kinda scared to have my hopes up, but the greatness went on until the end. what an amazing writing. and such incredible characters! there's not one I dislike. the world building is detailed and there's so much to uncover and explore. I LOVE vampire books, but I must admit is rare to find one that's actually good. usually they lost themselves in the narrative, but at least in this first book, everything was perfect.
even the relationship between Matthew and Tarrick was something else. I feel like there's still so much that we don't know yet. and even though Tarrick is more than awful with Matthew, I can't help but like him.
that doesn't stop me from wishing Matthew to turn into a beast and destroy everyone. or become their kind. that would be espetacular.
I'm thrilled with this book. absolutely amazing!...more

Seriously. I'm in love with this book. I was not expecting this. I'm so positively surprised.
But first things first: if you cannot read through the first two chapters, this book is not for you. For me, one of the most gruesome scenes of the book happens at the beginning. So if you cannot stomach that, then that's not for you.
Honestly though, this book is so worth it. The plot had me the entire time, and the world building is amazing. The writing, the development of their relationship - that is such a nice slow burn - the characters, I mean, there's not one thing I dislike in this book. Not one. It's like reading a terrific fantasy, but uncensored and with really good sex. The chemistry!!! The ending!!!! I was so afraid of the ending, but I was satisfied from beginning to end. I still can't believe I found such a book. I cannot say enough how surprised I am.
Truly perfect. A favorite. Love it so so much. Chef kiss!...more

I love everything about it, and of course it has my favorite tropes: best friends to lovers and straight to gay (or bi, in this case). Both of them have great personalities, and even when considering all the hardship that comes with their relationship, they always put love first and I can't. It's truly perfect....more

I was so moved by Hudson's announcement and the ending was perfect - those were the parts where I couldn't control my tears. Lovely couple, amazing family, fun personalities. Alessandra Hazard is one of my favorite authors, I love most of her work, the straight guys series is an absolute favorite. I love her style, her writing, and the plots she chooses to write about. But this? What is this?
I get this is meant to be short, but then please try something different. It all just felt completely disconnected. Peter has a disgusting personality and his relationship with Justin felt so forced and out of a sudden. No build up at all. The plot could be good if explored more deeply, but I don't know, I didn't connected with anything.

But ok, I need to get over that. I just paused this book, read the first one and came back. However it wasn't the same thing. It took me some time to get back to it and eventually I just started it again from the beginning.
I like this one, I absolutely love the characters. Again, I don't like how the sex is described, but it's not awful. It's good. But it could be a lot more. So yeah, this book is amazing. There's no way of not loving Stranger, he has all the I'm a mean guy for the rest of the world but you. However, I must say that Mia's forgiveness of him was too easy, too soon, and kinda shallow. I mean, she just goes like, well he's a killer but he promised not to do it anymore. Girl??? She doesn't even want to know what kind of people he killed, why he did it, how he could do it. I think this story needed more development in this part tbh.
I'm also not that happy with the lack of sex scenes, but I admit that must be because I'm used to other kinds of books and it's not that important. What truly matters is that the writing was amazing.
So overall, I loved the plot even when I knew how it ended. Loved Mia and Stranger together. But I do think the book could be a bit longer and wrap up some details that were lost between them. With all the intensity between them, I hate how rushed it felt at the end....more

I can see the pattern of the author by now, how the problem usually involves miscommunication in all the stories. Although it hasn't been a problem so far, I hope not to get tired of it in the next books of the series.
So far so good.

EThis is for sure my favorite book of this series. If another tops this one, I'll be really shocked. I absolutely loved every second of it. All of it. EVERYTHING.
It has all of my top tropes: friends to lovers, forced proximity, gay for you, werewolves/alpha/knoting. It was one of the sexiest books I have ever read too. The writing style is simple yet so well done, the sexy parts are perfection, and even all the growling is not over the top. At least for me.
This author can make any character lovable, it seems, but she sure knows how to write a fun, smart, and sexy character. Also, I know she leans heavily on the miscommunication plot, and the "problem" on this book in particular was very simple, but it just worked for me. I didn't want anything complicated, and I really just wanted that: a reason for the forced proximity between the MCs.
And I should say, Newt and Colin are by far my favorite couple in the series. The first time Colin appeared in the series, I already knew I'd love him. And he didn't disappoint. What can I say, I just love best friends in denial.
