I'm not sure if too much time has passed since I read volume one, but the tone here changed a lot. Clarke is no longer the slightly obsessive love interest cherishing Lettie from a (very) close distance. Now, he's bashful and apologetic. Everything gets blamed on the brother with Clarke being somewhat reluctantly dragged along. I preferred the assertive version of Clarke, who was still gentle with Lettie. Now, he's very sweet and considerate, but also a bit bland; I miss his passion.
There were still cute moments here. Because Clarke is going at Lettie's pace, it allows her to make a lot of the first moves, which I'm happy to see her doing. Plus we, and especially Lettie, get to see how Clarke grew up very restricted as well. Everything is new to him too, which gives them time to experience new things together.
I'll definitely read the next volume, but I'm hoping that a re-read prior to volume three will help this feel more cohesive....more

Parts were mysterious, parts were sweet, and many parts were agonizing. The simultaneous journeys these characters go on are filled with love and self-actualization. Lewellyn and Shavonne both have my whole heart, and if they hadn't gotten their happy ending, I would have rioted. It's best to read this without knowing much, so I'll keep this brief, but I absolutely adored it....more

I have similar feelings on this volume as I did for volume one. I don't feel emotionally invested in this couple even though I objectively find this very cute. However, just like the previous volume, the ending won me over again. I'll try at least one more volume and see where that takes me....more
