It just felt so unique and so relevant, I repeated so many parts of it in my audio book app, and I told everyone I was reading SUCH a great book! Unfortunately, the longer I listened the less I loved them and the more the story leaned into gore and more than a few clichées. It kind of lost me towards the end and while I was reeled back in with the epilogue, I still didn’t LOVE it anymore. I do recommend it, but not to anyone who doesn’t enjoy rather plentiful and detailed gore.
Spoiler:
Also: who WAS the Volkov-dude on the dating app?! He wasn’t one of Jude’s brothers (right?!) but he still said the patriarch had gone sappy and that the grandpa was the driving force (which was a bit too spoilery for me, and it annoyed me that they didn’t talk about it and figure it out.) A cousin? But shouldn’t she have recognized him? Can anyone clear up this confusion for me?...more

There were bits where I kind of ”skimmed while listening, but there were also bits where I was SO invested in it, I swear and laugh and fume and giggle and roll my eyes so hard they are close to sticking So in short? Just read it. Kitty is the Dexter for-and-of women, but with better fashion sense and more empathy. How can you NOT love that? Looking forward to the next book!...more

(For me at least.) Not bad. Vacay read, maybe? But not quite what I expected....more

It stared out good but rather quickly turned into a very teenangstey drama regarding whether or not they were in luuuuv and whether or not they wanted to jump each others booones, on and on and on for ages, and the plot was left wayside. Rune is also sickeningly MaryJaney/snowflakey and soooo special that I wanted to vomit. Add to that the ending where they conveniently share a new tale towards the end of the book that gives away exactly what’s going to happen and it does. A scene that could have been tense and kinda awesome was turned into ”well, duh! Obviously! and that’s never a good look for the grand finale. Ps. It’s also not a good sign that I was actually saying ”just woman up and kill yourself, already!! to the MC Yeah. I would, personally, give this a pass....more
