Bidadari Bermata Bening means "Clear Eyed Angel" الملاك ذو العيون الصافية أو ذات العيون الصافية كالملاك but the tv series in English is A Beautiful Angel. I cried. A lot.
The story reminds me strongly of Jane Eyre. Ayna is an orphaned girl who was brought up religiously by her baker mother, she is sent to an Islamic boarding school without payment by her uncle and aunt for three years where she meets Gus Afif, her soul mate, who is also an Islamic scholar. They fall in love yet do nothing until Ayna is summoned to her uncle's house to be married off to a rich man's son because she is known for her faith and beauty and he has political aspirations, at the same time another Islamic scholar proposes marriage to her though Afif's parents making Afif who's not yet established hurry his act and propose as well, Ayna chooses Afif from the three with a condition, that his parents come over with him to ask for her hand and that he can afford their marriage, he promises her that he will return before Shawal month (eid al fitar), her conniving aunt and uncle want her to choose the rich guy though he isn't suited for her at all, and sabotage her union with Afif. The drama escalates till the end. I was on my nerves the whole time.
One thing that made me squeal was that Ayna was half Indonesian half Palestinian Jordanian!! Hello!!
