This was a slow book to read, but very fascinating to read about: the history of Judaism within Kerala, to see the warring factions of both the black and white Jews, to see the rich history Judaism has within Kerala and how the local population embraced the Jewish people as part of the culture, and to see what has happened now that most have left India to settle in Israel, while also telling the heartbreaking stories of war and enmity after settling in Israel.

What a fascinating book. It has taken me many years to read, though it is such a small book. I have had to read, meditate on and challenge my thoughts
What a fascinating book. It has taken me many years to read, though it is such a small book. I have had to read, meditate on and challenge my thoughts with this book. Just as Jesus comes to challenge the status quo, this books comes to challenge the christology that one may have grown up with, and also charts the path forward to both dismantling bad christologies that have arisen through the years, while recognizing different christologies needed to exist to be understood within different contexts and cultures. This is a more generous way of understanding, respecting, and incorporating different christologies, as opposed to simply tearing them down and calling them wrong.
