Four stars because I was riveted and fascinated, and some of the writing was just gorgeous. But I'm really unsure whether the book satisfied me... I really disliked the lead character/narrator, except in minor moments, and the story (and the magic) seemed to fizzle out in the third act. But there's part of me that suspects this was intentional, and part of the whole parcel. And then again, I'm not sure if that makes it better or worse!
Anyway, four stars, thoroughly enjoyed, I think. Probably maybe....more
