**spoiler alert** This book was difficult book for me to rate. I am very glad I read it to learn about the atrocities of forced sterilization. But I did not really enjoy the book - particularly the second half. I found it to drag. I was confused by the relationships - some of which were left hanging, others which ended abruptly or were never really developed. I found the protagonists behavior to let decades pass between visits with the family she worked so hard on behalf of to be beyond confusing. I wanted to love it but in the end, I would have preferred to read a non-fiction account.

I just wished for a bit more at the end; it just didn’t live up to what I had expected. If reading - highly recommend the book on tape. Brought this story to life in such great ways.
