Zara has entertained us with her family, friends, and critters for 17 books and it seems her timeline is endless. This book she’s part of something bigger and takes a great deal of mental energy for her. I can’t spoil the book with saying much more. It was a loopy adventure, lots of miscommunication and unique technology. These books are a great escape if you enjoy a bit of magic with your mystery. I read an early copy and wrote my review voluntarily. ...more

At first it tookHaving only read one of his short stories I was unsure what to expect. I requested an early copy and am giving my review voluntarily. At first it took awhile to enjoy, the story is long and told with lengthy monologues, but eventually I was able to dig in. People don’t really keep friends for long anymore but this group saw everything together. Their story is told by Ted to a young lady, Louisa, about their childhood and a love of art. It’s because of a painting by a child twenty five years ago that we are even hearing their story. It might be because it was translated, I think, but the writing style was the reason I struggled with the story. As a reader I enjoy dialogue, this book had the best sarcasm and witty conversations, but when a character is lost in their head the story loses its steam and thrill. It was definitely worth my time because I think this story has sticking power. ...more

I couldn’t imagine taking the same flights every weekend and sitting with the same guy. Their connection as strangers was a little stiff but soon blossomed into a sweet friendship. Being vulnerable about family and relationships made them closer. It’s a short enough novella I read in two days but could’ve been longer only because I enjoyed Isaac and River so much. I was given an early copy and have written my review voluntarily....more

She’s a taleThe guys are still hard at work doing secret squirrel stuff for the government while running the shooting range, until Callie needs help. She’s a talented programmer, the only one capable of working on a huge project, but there’s something shady happening at work. Seth is assigned to be bodyguard, and anything else to ensure her safety, but quickly turns into Alex’s worst fears. Every operative has fallen for their charge, so far. I enjoyed reading Seth and Callie, hearing about the horses and her programming, but the vibe was a bit off between them. He’s a grumpy ass and she’s sensitive and it’s obviously taboo to start a relationship, but it took me almost the whole book to really “get their relationship. It’s just the chemistry wasn’t as instant as with others but once it took place they were easier to like. Each book has a story for a different couple but there is an overall storyline connecting the series. It’s worth it to start with the first but you won’t be lost starting here. I received an early copy and wrote my review voluntarily. ...more
