It was a little all over the place but I loved Le Guin's witty sarcasm and humor. I was cackling by page 10. How did she manage to make this sound sophisticated? -->
"There was this one novel I read where the novelist didn't only make all the fucking characters so fuck and shit all the time but she got into the fucking act herself for shit sake. So it was full of deeply moving shit like "The sunset was just too fucking beautiful to fucking believe."
I loved it! I actually did not expect to enjoy this book, as I am a teenager and teenagers are stupid but I thoroughly enjoyed every laughter filled moment of reading it....more

Apparently this is a debut, but I never would've guessed it! I love this book to bits. Some characters, like David, don't really feel needed, as if they are just there for the heck of it but it still works out so... Anyways, I loved the Darkling. His character is just so amazing. He's been used by several kings but is manipulative, he loves Alina but still won't just give up his dream for her, he is ruthless and yet soft. The plot is so amazing, and I adored every second of reading it. Leigh Bardugo is a master writer, and I'll definitely be continuing this series....more

I could say that this book was wonderful, full of sharp wit and with an amazing plot. But I would be lying. This book was even more of a disaster than the first. The writing style, once again was horrible, and the plot was filled with America going, "Oh, I like Maxon but I don't. But I still get mad at him for hanging out with other girls. Also, Aspen loves me but I don't know what to do. There are several rebellions happening but I don't give a flying **** because I'm a selfish brat that only cares that I get what I want." I will definitely not be continuing this series....more

It might be a bit too dark for children, but at least twelve year olds should be okay. Each story was unique and interesting in it's own individual way, and I loved every moment of reading it. My favorite would have to be All I Care About Is You, though it does have a dark twist at the end. I honestly enjoyed this book a lot and would definitely recommend it to people who enjoy reading dark kinds of fantasy....more

The stories themselves were boring and had no major problems, it was mostly a bunch of preaching about God and other religious things that I have no interest in. There are a few drawings sprinkled here and there, but nothing extraordinary. If you need a quick read and have nothing else, this book could help pass time but other than that, I don't really recommend it....more

I am not a fan of this author. She and her editor publicly discussed manipulating the Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ rating system by liking the positive reviews. Not to mention that the editor called Wendy Darling, one of the top reviewers on GoodReads and one of the people with a negative reviews, a “b*tchâ€ just for stating her opinion. Click this link to see the conversation. /review/show... While some fans of the author are saying that it was the publisher, not Cass, that called Wendy Darling a “b*tchâ€, you don’t see the author protesting. Also, on the topic that Elana Roth, Cass’s publisher, brought up on the Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ system on what reviews they put on top, Cass said, “I think it’s by likes. & it’s easier to like mean stuff. Whatevs.â€ Umâ€ mean stuff? Wendy Darling is a reviewer. It’s her job to give her opinion about a book. It just happened to be that the book sucked and that she had a negative opinion of it. The sheer level of unprofessionalism in their conversation shocks me, and honestly? I didn’t read this book for quite a while because of it. However, I did see this book in the library, and thought, “Heck. Why not. I’ll give it a shot. Maybe I’ll like it?â€ Even so, I regret picking this book up. And just to make this clear, I am not letting all the drama that happened affect my opinion of the book on itself. The book just sucks on it’s own as well. Though I don’t appreciate the naming of the characters, I just ignored it. However, if you have some kind of pet peeve for unusual and horrible names, here are some examples. America Singer. Maxon Schreave. Tuesday. Aspen. Sosie. Tiny. And that’s just to name a few. Moving on, the plot. The book tries out a dystopian theme, only to miserably fail. The only dystopian themes that are clear are the fact that you can’t have sex before marriage, and that some terrorists show up once in a while. But they honestly don’t contribute anything to the plot. I feel like Cass was just like, “Oh, it might be too boring if it’s just romance, so I’ll just make up something on the spot. Hmâ€ HMâ€ Eureka! I’ll throw in some terrorists and it will work just fine.â€ No. Just no. Also, the awkward romance. One does not simply automatically fall in love with a girl who kneed him in the balls because he asked for a favor. And the whole love triangle thing? It doesn’t work. Let me give you an example of a good love triangle. Christina, Mark, and Kieran from The Dark Artifices series by Cassandra Clare. Now let me give you a bad example. America, Aspen, and Maxon. It was too rushed and really made me dislike the book even more. The writing style was nice though. Maybe if I read Kiera Cass’s other book I could enjoy it. She has potential as a writer, if she can get over her damned ego and accept criticism. But, right now, I’m not liking her books. I don’t want to get too into detail as this review is already long enough and I don’t want to talk about it much longer. I will read the next book but if this turns out like A Great and Terrible Beauty and is horrible throughout the entire series, I will be tempted to scream bloody murder....more

This is one of my favorite fantasy YA series along with The Young Elites. Iff Lady Midnight had left me completely mind blown, Lord of Shadows blew my entire body up with feels. Cassandra Clare will make you feel even if you’re a casual reader. The writing style was perfect, the plot was amazing, and the characters were well developed. Oh. Right. The characters. ZARA DEARBORN IS A (INSERT SWEAR WORD OF CHOICE HERE)! She pissed me off from the second she was introduced and continued to do so.

It’s elegant, brutal, and The Midnight Star is a masterpiece you do not want to miss out on. I was left sobbing over fictional characters once again. It’s elegant, brutal, and heartbreaking all in one. The writing style is extraordinary, the characters are amazing, the plot is beautiful and the series is one of the best I’ve ever read. This is one of those books that give you a heart and then rips it to shreds. I loved every single moment of it. The thing that I especially loved about this series is about how the main character isn’t a ‘good guy. Yes, I know. There are plenty of books out there with anti-hero protagonists, but this is my favorite. Everything that Adelina does, no matter how gruesome or dark, is justified. To keep her alive, to get her rightful revenge, to keep her subjects in line so they don’t revolt. She is just one of my favorite characters of all time. Some may call her cold, others may call her a monster, and the rest may say that she’s an emotionless ‘b. However, she has emotions. But her emotions are the reason she became like this, so of course she hides them. She loves Magiano. She loves Violetta. She feels love, hate, and sadness and yet she still stands tall and crushes her enemies. That, it what makes her special. If you say that you did not cry at this part, you are a liar.
“A boy on horseback, wandering at night, in the woods or on the plains or along the shores. The sound of a lute drifts in the evening air. Overhead are the stars of a clear sky, a sheet of light so bright that he reaches up, trying to touch them. He stops and descends from his horse. Then he waits. He waits until exactly midnight, when the newest constellation in the sky blinks into existence. If you are very quiet and do not look away, you may see the brightest star in the constellation glow steadily brighter. It brightens until it overwhelms every other star in the sky, brightens until it seems to touch the ground, and the the glow is gone, and in its place is a girl. Her hair and lashes are painted a shifting silver, and a scar crosses one side of her face. She is dressed in Sealand silks and a necklace of sapphire. Some say that, once upon a time, she had a prince, a father, and a society of friends. Others say that she was once a wicked queen, a worker of illusions, a girl who brought darkness across the lands. Still others say that she once had a sister, and that she loved her dearly. Perhaps all of these are true. She walks to the boy, tilts her head up at him and smiles. He bends down to kiss her. Then he helps her onto the horse, and she rides away with him to a faraway place, until they can no longer be seen. These are only rumors, of course, and make little more than a story to tell around the fire. But it is told. And thus they live on.

I personally didn’t like the style used. Even so, I do admit that it is better than just okay, it is very good. I merely did not personally like it. Art aside, let’s get on to the important part. The writing. I don’t normally enjoy reading memoirs, I prefer novels, but this book really reached out to me. It’s a heartbreakingly true tale of a family’s immigration. Each member has their own story to tell. It is told through breathtaking drawings and amazing writing. I give it 5 stars. And this book deserves every single one of them....more

And also that I am almost losing my mind trying to look for the second book? I loved this book so much. Imagine, you live in a world where you are eight nine but you can look twenty. Imagine, a world where there is no disease. No famine. Where dead people can come back as good as new. There’s no permanent death. Oh, wait. There’s a ‘but. But, you can still die if you are chosen by a Scythe. What’s a Scythe? Oh, it’s nothing. Just a group of people who can kill you and put you to death. For good. The idea was so amazing. I mean, who doesn’t enjoy a good futuristic, dystopian book. I loved the characters and the fact that someone who wants to be a scythe cannot become one. If you are the type of person that believes in science and facts, do you believe that true love really exists? Or is it just chemicals? I loved this book too much for words. It breaks the stereotypes of Asians being ‘nerds but I feel like many Koreans can understand how Daniel feels. In Korea, my younger cousin who is only about ten years old, has to go to school at about 7AM. School ends at 10... PM. For a ten year old. This ‘Asian method really has to change, give children a chance to be children, you know? I myself am Asian but was raised under less strict rules because my parents didn’t want me to struggle like that because they know that they hated it. Just having a good house and a good car after spending your whole life to become something you didn’t have a choice in is that really happiness? This is a real issue because this hammers into the kid's minds that you are either 1st place or a loser. I also appreciate the breaking of stereotypes. I mean, people think that African Americans aren’t really into studying when they can be very intelligent. I feel like people greatly underestimate or overestimate others over their race, which really has nothing to do with it. It’s more about what kind of environment they grew up in. Daniel? Grew up as an Asian. But he is more of an artistic person. That’s the only ‘rebelling he’s ever done. Natalie? Grew up in a miserable household as the daughter of a broke dreamer who also happens to be an illegal immigrant. Needless to say, she had a harsh wake-up call when she was young. Now? She’s afraid to dream and only believes in facts. When they meet each other, sparks fly. I seriously enjoyed this book, it made my day. I will definitely continue reading Nicola Yoon’s books....more

Slight confession time: I accidently read this book before the first. You can’t blame me! I just borrowed a random book from my friend because I was bored. But the thing is, this book is so good that it worked. It worked out! I figured out the plot and the basics of what happened in the earlier book which I later read. Honestly, I hate it when I don’t read books in order. But with this one, it’s so amazing that I. Don’t. Even. Care. I am sobbing. I literally cried so much because of the ending which shocked my friend because apparently I’m “heartless. If I’m heartless, then it’s because of these Marie Lu books that shred my heart to pieces and stomp all over the bloody remains. This book is beautifully written and shows us the dark side to Adelina. Well, the darker side. Also, a new love interest has appeared! And goddamn he is amazing. Magiano, a legend. (Legend). They say his name is why they even call magic, magic. He’s a snarky, ridiculously attractive guy who isn’t afraid of Adelina and is actually really powerful. In other words, he is Adelina’s perfect match. I loved the relationship between Adelina and Magiano, how he helps her feel happy and how she trusts him with her whole being. But of course because Marie Lu wants us to suffer...
