Beautifully written and drawn, but with a very problematic message - that you can somehow fix someone's serious mental health issues by making them happy, and that it's clearly your fault if you can't.
I actually read the entire series, hoping it would turn around by the end; after all, the characters are teens, and it would have made sense for them to gradually come to the realization that it's not about happiness, and that their friend needed professional help and possibly medication. This may come down to cultural differences around mental health - I don't know much about how Japanese society views it - but I can't in good conscience recommend this series, especially to teens....more
