This is The house sitter by Carrie Beavis, after Nina breaks up with her boyfriend her brother lets her stay at his flat while he’s away on vacation. This is when she sees someone across the way having sex with a blonde woman only to learn a few days later the woman is missing. afterNina tries to involve the police and the man’s lifelong friend Tabatha, alibis him. This is when Nina starts making some risky decisions to try and solve it herself while this is happening, she seems to be falling for her brother‘s best friend and the actual owner of the flat she’s housesitting. The man she saw having sex with the blonde is named Julian his dad owns the apartment buildings and it seems he has a history of being attached to dead and or missing women but unfortunately Nina isn’t the only one watching his Cummings and goings and the other person has been doing it for much longer. this is definitely a five star read and although my review doesn’t reflect that trust me when I say the author has done it again and looks like this are the reason she is my favorite mystery/thriller riders. She always has a banger in store for the reader and when it comes to who done it I can never guess until it’s obvious in my face. Her writing is so brilliant and keeps you reading and the housesitter is no different it was interesting well done and Nina is someone so worth rooting for. Not to mention I absolutely loved Zack! #NetGalley, #BoldwoodBooks, #TheBlindReviewer, #MyHonestreview, #KeriBeavis, #TheHouseSitter,...more

With the help of Janet the cook Guy the landscaper her dad and movie star sister Tamsin she’s getting ready for opening weekend. When the guest arrive everyone is outside to greet them and Nora is surprised to see Hilda Dibble also showed up for the opening. She is surprised because Hilda threw every step of the process tried to stop them from opening their bnb. Nora also found that odd because Hilda has only been living in the village for a little over a year But she doesn’t stay long right when she goes to walk in to meet the guest and see the Vicar it seems she sees someone that shocks her and soon her and her best friend Sandra are leaving quite abruptly. Her guest include Brian the bird watcher, Lola and her husband multimillionaires who own restaurants in Finley who Nora finds herself quite attracted to. after a very successful first night Nora wakes up early to attend to her garden when she finds the dead body of Hilda Dibble. thankfully Finley was walking his dog lady and she asked for his assistance never knowing that he was the new detective investigator at the village Police Department. He takes over and soon it hits Nora how this could affect her bed-and-breakfast and she decides to solve the case herself with the help of her sister Tamsin. This will cause her to get kidnapped with her sister, almost get killed by roof tiles and this is all before the next murder. There’s a lot of quirky characters and a lot of connections that linked back to another murder years before. All this near death in amateur slueth investigating doesn’t stop Nora from catching onto the fact Finley may just be attracted to her as well. So she decides if she lives through this she may just start dating the local DI but first she has a murderer to catch. This isn’t the best review but just know as far as cozy mysteries go bodies and battlements have some very likable characters as well as quirky ones and it all makes for a great cozy mystery that I am definitely going to continue reading if there is a second book and I haven’t even mentioned the dead ancestors who still visit from time to time.. #NetGalley,#TheBlindReviewer, #MyHonestReview, #ElizabethPenny, #BodiesAndBattlements,...more

The house was once owned by Vanita a silent movie star who moved there when the house was new with her husband Oscar and daughter Priscilla. Many strange things happen including her sing the ghost of Bartholomew Jones, Oscar‘s best friend and someone who stayed quite frequently with the family. She also finds Venita‘s diary a ghost cat and much much more. Throughout the book we find out how the knee’s daughter died as well as Bonita herself and the famous PI Bartholomew Jones. which means a lot to Ronnie and Katie‘s new friend Cody. Bart was his uncle and he claims the only one from the family who did anything great with his life. I don’t know what else to put in this review because it’s truly was an awesome read not to mention a very funny one and oh how much did I love Ronnie she was so funny. Her dry sarcasm leaked off the page and I was loving all of it. much more than scary this book was totally entertaining I cannot think of one negative thing to say about it I loved it loved it loved it. I absolutely love that every time Bonita appeared her house was intact and the way it was in 1932IDKY but that totally thrilled me. I know this is a horrible review but OMG it was a great great read! #NetGalley, #TheBlindReviewer, #MyHonestReview,#SherryPriest, #ItWasHerHouseFirst,...more

The attendees are going to be first Indira and Jesse both divorced both single mothers but where in Deira has embraced her singleness in sexuality Jesse is very tentative about getting back in a sexual lifestyle. they also both gave up their religions to marry they’re now ex-husband’s. For Jesse it was Judaism and for Indira it was Hinduism next up is married mother of two Caroline who is an obey your husband personified typ. She is a gun toting racist who also claims to be religious and is there because her husband told her to go. Barbara is the stereotypical yoga hippie hold out who can say without saying that she is in to yoga. she’s the type of person who you can’t tell if she is 40 or 70. As far as Shakti goes she is beautiful truly believes in what she preaches and is very devout to her spirituality. Daniel is a hot 20 something man bun wearing douche bag who believes he is a gift to women and Jesse sadly has a little crush. Caroline immediately doesn’t like Jesse and Indira for different and sometimes the same reasons. Then again Jesse isn’t a big fan of hers especially after she shoots a python and tries to go on a gun toting boar hunt. Barbara has taken the week at the retreat to be a silent non-talking participant and mainly stands around and smiles at least in the beginning. Eventually someone will be found in the swamp with the alligators but why is he there and who did it? Shakti tries so hard to keep the retreat on task but it seems slowly but surely the train is leaving the track and she slowly loses all control. this was a pretty good book they do have some political opinions in the book and there’s a lot of things I have opinions about but this review is about the overall book and it’s entertainment factor and it is very very entertaining. I love a funny book and this made me laugh more than once with a clever story and although there wasn’t big twist in the book I still absolutely recommended it is a solid read not as long as most novels but so worth the time. #NetGalley, #WilliamMorrow, #TheBlindReviewer, #MyHonestReview,#AshaElias, #TheNamasteClub,...more

Hannah‘s family is well to do and Jake is on the verge of selling a very useful financial software it will make lots of money. So when someone emails them a video of them burying John’s body and continues to send threatening notes the more pressure Jake feels but when everything is said and done it seems someone has been lying but who and why. Jake’s girlfriend tried to warn Hannah but is Jake the bad guy, is Hannah or someone else stalking the couple for their own ends? This is a very twisty book and although the ending was clever it wasn’t my favorite by this author. I still enjoyed it and totally recommended because more than once as the story went along I couldn’t figure out who was guilty nor why.#NetGalley,#Bookoutrs, #TheBlindReviewer, #MyReview, #LauraNorth, #ForBetterForWorse,...more

Her daddy recently died and instead of giving it to her three older sisters he gives it to Charlotte who left 20 years before and hasn’t looked back. In the beginning all you read is complaints and whining about their move from the big city to a place they could see children of the corn part two happening. Instead of traffic and busy people they hear church bells and birds, namely of the emu variety and Shelby isn’t down with it. not that mom Charlotte and daughter Harlan want this to be permanent either. yes before Charlotte left for cooking school and upon her return the skills she’s learned will have a big thing to do with the towns recovery. This book was not only funny but heartwarming as well. I love that even when the restaurant got up and going and everyone loved it they still every now and then spoke of going back to Brooklyn so halfheartedly. I did get tired of hearing the.com at the beginning of each email but ultimately it is a small price to pay to read such an entertaining funny heartwarming story. There was so much greatness about this book and the only negative I have is the.com reoccurrence but I loved Bailey’s logic and philosophy I wish I could taste Melba‘s tomatoes lol and eat at the Mayday, while staying at the hallelujah Inn. Such a great awesome read. #NetGalley, #TheBlindReviewer, #MyHonestReview,#PageGets, #ATownWithHalfTheLightsOn,...more

We also learned she has been on the run for the past three years because she borrowed money from a loanshark and couldn’t pay it back. When she arrives at the funeral right away it’s obvious she is a fish out of water everyone there is wealthy well to do and dress accordingly. So when two women start loudly talking about how she doesn’t look like she belongs a handsome man named Max comes to her rescue. Max explains he knew the deceased very well and surprised that Donna was there because he never knew her to have friends. it isn’t until after the casket is put into the ground that she realizes the name on the burial site is Alice Anderson Her name. she goes by Donna Slade and has for the past three years since being on the run and it’s a secret she believes only she knows and wants to keep it that way. At the funeral Max‘s wife Tara offered her the job the dearly departed just vacated. Soon after the funeral Donna/Alice meets Max in Terrace daughter Hannah she is a wealth of information but unfortunately her emotions and personality changes like the wind. Soon Donna will learn picking a personality is a trait the whole family grapples with. at first Donna is a enamored with Max but soon find him to be gaslighting Tara and according to Hannah her as well she finds many clues to who Alice Anderson was but answers are fleeting and by the time she learns the whole story her life will be in danger someone will be murdered and Donna will still not know who to trust. this was a great thriller and although they had a few stumbles the overall story it told was a good one. I love the fact that Donna/Alice took as good as she got a new win to keep her mouth shut as opposed to other books where people just let others verbally abuse them and act as if it is their fault. Donna was a great character in the ending was definitely the wild ending thriller fans look for. As I said they do have some eye rolling moments as well as moments where you have to suspend belief but overall I would absolutely recommend this roller coaster ride of a thriller.#NetGalley, #Bookoucher, #TheBlindReviewer, #MyHonestReview, #HelenHDurrant, #TheFuneral,...more

So needless to say she was born by a surrogate and when her want to be documentary Boyfriend Zelle pleedse with her for him to reunite her with her mother she doesn’t know if she wants to do it. Unfortunately Zelle, whose comprehension level is low so he takes that as yes please let’s do it immediately and she shows up at his studio to find a woman she’s never met her surrogate mom, Candy. Between her newly found siblings and those at the college there’s many suspects but only one culprit and live and Jared join up to find them. A lot of people say this was a fun read and I am absolutely going to say that and it is 100% the truth. I loved so many aspects of this book that the mystery to me was really secondary from Jared not wanting to date again to his best friend Leo and George not to leave kitty out and Liv was so likable as well as her uncle this was just a ton of fun and I loved it cannot wait for the next book. #NetGalley, #TheBlindReviewer, #MyHonestReview, #LeeHollis, #MyFatherAlwaysFindsCorpses,...more

Trying to do the right thing Jess, gets the young boy to safety just in time to see a monster attack the fighting neighbors right after her new young companion says “he’s here! Jess, who is clearly very good at reading the room or actually the front yard decides it’s time to get the hell out of there. this is when every strange monster someone can conceive of either knows learns or is following Jess and the young boy who we know is kiddo. it even visits everyone who gives them help from Margaret her coworker to cookie her mom. Is Jess safe anywhere or is the monster they’ve been running from, been with them the whole time? you know an author is awesome when in the middle of horrible torture scenes he also tickles your funny bone and Nat Cassidy did that in spades. I listened to the audiobook and thought Helen laser although at first struck me as an odd narrator although really good but once she got to the scenes where she had to show real emotion she really proved what a great actor she is. When listening to the audiobook I had no clue that the male narrator was Nat Cassidy but OMG he was awesome as well. this was such a mind blowing mic drop story and I was just blown away I’m still picking pieces of myself up since finishing. when I was done with this book no lie I went and looked up the author and downloaded every book I could find written by him and you will see my reviews coming soon. I loved this book and as a fan of horror I cannot recommend it enough. There is way more to the story than what I put in this review just be prepared for unthinkable monsters and torture that begs belief. Especially cookies hand with the note in it. One of the Native American that was in prison wasn’t even in the area at the time of the crime nor did they have proof beyond belief that these four did it. Although some of the book was a little scattered this is still a story worth reading I do believe if someone would just tighten up the narrative it would make for a definite five star read and I did enjoy reading it it was just a little all over the place some of his students knew the perpetrators and over a four year process he brought this together and having said that I do recommend it but read it with the grain of salt and a good memory because more than once the author expounds on his personal interaction with the ongoing situation more than once. #Nagalli, #BlindReviewer, #MyHonestReview, #BrianPatrickO’Donoghue, #TheFairbanksFour, ...more
Death On The Island by Eliza Reed, When the book starts it’s mainly getting to know the guest at the dinner party. First off the party is going to be Death On The Island by Eliza Reed, When the book starts it’s mainly getting to know the guest at the dinner party. First off the party is going to be at a local restaurant, Skell and the chef is named Piotr, and he is hosting the mayor of the island and some Canadians including the ice Atlantic ambassador his wife Jane an artist named Hannah Jane’s good friend the author Ben the deputy ambassador Kevita her husband Raul in local wealthy businessman Thor and his wife Lisa. The story is told for many POV’s and the chapters have titles like 24 hours before the murder or two hours before the murder and in my opinion that only heighten the tension the book created. OK the ambassador is trying to get Thor and Lisa to relocate their company in Canada and they’re also there to see Hannah‘s art exhibit at the local folklore museum. The Prime Minister and Jane live in Iceland but they’re visiting the island just for this occasion. Hannah used to be a scientist but is now an artist and she has a secret with the ambassador but she is also having an affair with Ben and has already had one with “Piotr. it also seems every time we see Kavita she is causing issues and it’s quite abrupt with everyone but outright argues with the ambassador. so when the chef is serving his Flaming Vikings during the demonstration they turned the lights out while he lights them on fire and when the lights come back on and everyone takes a sip Kavita quickly succumb to something in hers and dies. Raul is blaming the ambassador but if things were that simple this wouldn’t be a five star read and it definitely is. She isn’t even the only one to die. I truly got Agatha Christie vibes from reading this book and trust me when I say there’s so much more going on and OMG how much did I love Jane So freaking much! I also at first thought Hannah was a dirty skank but by the end I kind of liked her as well. anyone who loves well crafted mysteries with a gotcha ending will definitely enjoy this book I absolutely did a totally five star read! also this is my favorite type of ending cause even when you think the culprit has been caught keep reading because there is another twist coming up. #NetGalley,#PoisonThinPress, #TheBlindReviewer, #MyHonestReview, #ElizaReid, #DeathOnTheIsland,m...more

When he arrives home he reconnects with Roe greenmen, his teenage crush and backyard neighbor. she’s now a detective in their small town and tells Eathan they should investigate the accident that killed their high school friend Ricky because it’s something that still haunts her. At first he says no as he is only home to visit his parents and wait for the writer strike to be over but just like when they were kids she talks him into it. They will find out many strange things about the case but the first twist is that Ricky wasn’t the only Minnesota teenager to be struck down on side of the highway but it seems the closer they get to the answer the more people that are killed. Eathan knows he’s bitten off more than he can chew but every time he tries to bow out Roe comes up with a reason for him to stay just a little longer. I really enjoyed this book it was a fast awesome read but really thought it could’ve done without all the potential romantic things between Eathan and Roe, for some reason I just didn’t buy a romance between them I thought he was better suited to Anna but alas that wasn’t to be either. All in all this was a really great book and if you love good murder mysteries with very likable characters to root for then you will definitely love this book.
