Nothing really to say. The ending of the trilogy has made me so numb I’m kind of going through the novellas and short stories with no emotions. It was interesting to be in his head and read certain scenes through his perspective, but that’s really all.
I don’t tend to rate novellas highly so a 3 star means I enjoyed it! But I would rather be reading/listening to something else ...more

This. Book. Hurt.
Reading about those murder and torture scenes, hearing the descriptions of children getting killed and Katniss struggling to stay sane was so incredibly painful to read. Saying this was a fun read is true bullshit because it was horribly painful. It’s even worse knowing that things like this happen. Stories like this are not that far off from reality, from our real world, and that makes it 10 times worse.
At some points you are like “why is the author killing everyone? Why aren’t we getting a break? and then you remember that people that do go through this don’t have the luxury of breaks, the luxury to prevent deaths or move on from it. Fighting for your freedom (what is still happening today in many countries) is not ‘cool like so many books portray it. It’s painful and every other thing you can imagine.
I loved how they portrayed Snow. The movies did not show good enough how truly evil this man is. The amount of things that he has done that were not mentioned in the movie (or my memory is just horrible) jarred me. I hated him but after listening to this? I truly loathe him. The movies didn’t go over the victims or over the things he has done to certain people, but the books do and my gosh at times I seriously needed a break.
The books also gave us so much more depth, the side characters were more important here than in the movies and I liked the little details (I do wish we revisited or went more over certain side characters, to show how they are doing at the end or come to terms with them).
I was listening to this and I do have to confess that at times I had no idea who was who, because of the name dropping here and there of soldiers. Who were the soldiers on that mission to the capital? I truly don’t know...more
