Iin these last few days, I read everything I could find about Wiccan & Hulkling & I guess this is the last so far. when the next issue coming anyway???
I love them soooooooo much!
a little recap, the order you might want to read- almost the way I read, or figured I should have when I've read one in the wrong order:
I saw their first appearance in 2005 Young Avengers, seeing both their developments through the series, some Space stuff that helped Teddy's backstory forming into a different path than other Marvel characters & the world expanding. a little drama accompanying the thrills in 2013 Young Avengers (also loved that) I saw them growing up, become a part of different teams (Strikeforce- New Avengers) the troubles they dealt with the help of other Avengers in "Empyre".
it might have spoilers about earlier, & I mean their relationship development (though this was the first thing I figured when I was searching about them in the first place. but feel free to skip the paragraph)
we saw them in a relationship, they were engaged, had their place, & (finally!) had a wedding (yay!), hurried & private & on Earth, then a proper Space wedding (double yay!) -"Empyre Aftermath"-, a honeymoon mixed with superhero-ing stuff (of course!)- "King in Black"- & then in "the Last Annihilation", along the battle with Durmamo & another gathering of superheroes to save the universe, we saw a little past too. (the past I was waiting for!) soooooo love them!
& here was the drama I like to see happen for my favourite fictional couples, especially since it started with a panicked thought &... yeah, you know how Billy is. (though my theories were correct, but it didn't lower the level of enjoyment or surprise, reading that they were true. I was also whooping!) I loved it. & the art design was so cute!...more
in 2nd read, I enjoyed more. I laughed more at those certain things that bothered me the first time (I guess because I4 Silver Stars with Golden Sparks
in 2nd read, I enjoyed more. I laughed more at those certain things that bothered me the first time (I guess because I wasn't used to it) & I skipped those chapters that wore me down & bored me to death. so yeah, 4 is well-deserved. - so.... hmmm, yeahhhhh, right... I decided to round up the rating. because I liked the beginning, the story until the half was WAY better than book 1, more exciting & fast, & Tyler (...more
one of my most anticipated reads of 2021 & thank you! I enjoyed it a lot! rounding up because, of course, Jacks! (4.5 Broken Stars (oops! I mean Golden)

one of my most anticipated reads of 2021 & thank you! I enjoyed it a lot! rounding up because, of course, Jacks! (& considering I gave Legendary 5 too, despite of what I didn't like, & in this book they were even lesser (because unlike my swinging interest in Evangeline, generally, she was better than Tella) so, yes, joy!) 2024 re-read: & now that I know how it ends, nothing bothered me, I'm grinning at Evangeline's struggles. who can blame her? I did fall for Jacks myself long before this series came out. this time around I enjoyed the book, even the first slower parts more. & I savoured the moments.
6th best of 2021
(Note: you Better read Caraval series first; a few characters are from there, the story branched from there & it is fundamentally helping in knowing the world, the rules of the magic & the Fates. & there are several references to what had happened there.)
I assume I don't have to be surprised to find a twist at every turn (that I almost forgot some of their first intentions) this is the author who created the world of Caraval & its riddles & wrote Caraval. of course almost every chapter telling new stuff, revealing new corner of the truth.
& I loved seeing Jacks again! (I think we all knew Jacks would be here, right? I mean it's not just in the blurb, but we all wanted to know what happened to him after Finale & there was news everywhere before it's getting published. so it's not a spoiler, I hope.) especially since his role is bolder in this story (remember the world of Fates & Legendary was my favourite Caraval book)
I loved it a lot more than Caraval & it entered my all-time favouritte series; not only because of cute Disney vibes, beautiful romance, but the amazing characters. characters is my anchors to the story & if I love them, I enjoy the book a lot more & it becomes so memorable in my heart & soul. while I only followed Caraval to see what happens & how it all resolved & didn't attach to any of the main characters, only Jacks (who was a minor character & I couldn't get enough of him) & I'm happy I read that series which introduced this special character, but I don't think I reread it at least for 10 years; while you see I started rereading this series already. (2024)
Jacks was as sarcastic & cunning as always. I was all grinning when he was talking in the scene. every one of them, interesting! I want him to get a happy ending. not to be dramatic or anything, but I mean I probably deal with him just to see him, even though I know it would be a terrible idea. but Prince of Hearts already owns my heart too. also *swoons over the cover* LaLa, of course, was brilliant. Evangeline made me mad a few times (her conflicts in every sentences, & some stupid mistakes. I swear I wanted to fight her, or yell at her!), but she started growing on me. She's definitely better than Tella & more interesting than Scarlett. 2024: Evangeline is me! her optimism, her hopefulness, her romantic thoughts, even her sometimes naivete. she's also an INFP. (I noticed this a while back, probably with book 2, or even in the middle of book 1 when she started to grow on me, I just like to add it here as my re-read thoughts) I understand her & sympathize with her & I just feel so like her! & no, her struggles didn't bother me this time around. (probably because I know how the series ends)
the Plot as I said, was interesting & exciting & every chapter had something new to reveal. I loved it how it kept me intrigued.
& I loved the concept, how it was about love & kisses, even though these stuff, merely, made me cringe. (but I mean, it's Prince of Hearts & his kiss- deals! *meaningful look*) but this book felt like a Disney fairytale for me, magical & beautiful, full of twists & castles & stories. (& sometimes, a little darker stuff)
that end broke my heart. (pun half-intended)
now I'm thinking about Garber's books (this book precisely with this beautiful magical, fairytale-ish palace-y cover), I tasted a caramel toffee melted on my tongue. & the sweetness of a fluffy cotton-candy! it's that glittery fairytale vibe I always feel with her books; also it was quite appropriate for my October taste.

(I would give it 5, but... ughhhh. conflicts! hardest rating! half an hour after finished: I did give it 5! rounding up; those later parts (& the characters!) really made up for those things I didn't like!) this rating is an exception; I hated some things which rarely happens in my 5-stars, but the general passionate for the things I loved about this book & these characters could redeem the book & saved it. I simply can't give it less! reread 2024: yep, a 5-star truly deserved.
2022 TOP 10
when the Blood Veil falls, let the Hunger Games begin!
-Am I attracted to the books with the word "Villains" in the title? - Yes! Yes I am!
I like these kinds of stories that the main character(s) is/are a villain, originally or to-be-made. even though I'm generally attracted to the hero's sides, but I appreciate a well-designed, smart villain or a story with no heroes. especially when there's no other choice for them. they're just very interesting! new perspectives to explore!
even though, "There's always a choice" you'll see how twisted it is, when you read it. *putting my fingertips together (the cover posture), musing*
a Dark YA Fantasy with some kind of Gothic or Dark Academia (without the academy!) vibes. it might not make sense, but it was what I felt. it can be High Fantasy I guess, but I'm happy to think it's in our world, some twisted society hidden away with magic.
it was one of my most anticipated books (from 2021) & I was disappointed for the briefest amount of time, but in general, it was bloody brilliant! (pun intended!) & no less than a 5, so I'm glad. (even though it's the only book that improved from 3 to 5, but it's worth it.)
I liked:
the Characters: the main characters were interesting (tho I hated their despicable families!) Alistair, Isobel, Briony, Finley, Carbry, Gavin (I would've ticked my "fav hero" & "fav heroine" shelves, but you see, there's no "hero" in this story, it's All of Us Villains (so I ticked that shelf) & Hendry & Reid I understood them. I sympathized with them. the pain! my heart! their Banter & taunting & how they dealt with each other; & the constant (& unexpected) change of the situation kept me on the edge of my seat.
the Plot: Unexpected & Challenging the Beginning was captivating & fun! I immediately loved the two characters appeared in the first few pages. the introduction to the world & the characters, were great & intriguing, I felt connected to the characters & cared for them. I just hated those abhorrent families, then, thankfully when they cleared the area for the main characters to shine by themselves & the tournament had begun, it made up for everything, it returned to all its glory & excitement & characters' conflicts (even better than I'd anticipated) my interest (mood) for the story returned & reminded me why I liked to read it in first place. & I love it how the Plot unfolding itself, challenging the Characters' inner decisions to the edge. the dynamics, ups & downs. it made the story more unpredictable.
the Romance was also beautiful; slowly-building & heart-wrenching! (& those that hasn't revealed themselves, but I can feel it! there's a chemistry between those two & I hope we see it soon in the next book!- also there will be lots of conflicts because of it!) It was also emotional, I cried at several heart-breaking parts.
the World Building: fascinating it seemed like it was happening in our world, yet it might be also High Fantasy. the Magic system rules were complicated & somehow unique & easy.
the Writing style: unique & sometimes fun even the Descriptions didn't bore me.
yeah, it was brutal (& sometimes, I admit that I hated it) I liked it more than Hunger Games (I really wasn't attached to THG), Even tho comparing it to THG was the reason this book was added to my list (& my thirst for an all-Villain story *evil smirk*)
for one thing, there were a lot less Characters competing Here & I had the chance to actually know them all (so, care for them) & easily remember them. (& they were MoRe interesting, at least in my opinion) & more than one POV character, thus, I could see the story from different perspectives & seeing the parallel things that was happening & cross each other, & even more important, understanding them better the reason behind the Tournament not being political, but magic-related
I WANT THE NEXT BOOK! & I'M AFRAID! you just don't end a book like that! (well... it wasn't a cliffhanger, but I still need the next book! I'm hanging there, just not from a cliff!) gimme book 2 & give Alistair a hug! - World building: ★★★★/5 Characters: ★★★★()/5 (Ignore those horrible families! they're NOT important enough!) Plot: ★★★★()/5 (if I just ignore that 20% in the middle) Written style: ★★★★()/5 (400+ highlights! beautifully written) General idea: ★★★★/5...more
it was my Most anticipated release of 2020 & it did an AWESOME job to live beyond my anticipation. what's left to say?... Uncle Rick is a genius storyteller. beautiful, emotional, Comedy, thrilling, quick read, everything! this modernized mythology (somewhat) retelling of battle between Apollo & Python was EPIC! as always! I'm speechless! I laughed. I whooped! I cried. a lot! though my Top favourite of this series still remains "the Burning Maze", but this one is a close second.
we are back to New York to defeat the Last Emperor
Riordan's endings are one of the most Satisfying ones in all the books I've ever read, each series, every books. this journey also has came to an end, Apollo's mortal journey in modern world. I was with this series since the beginning, despite of the other two (trivial me!: I got to know this world (PJO) in 2014 I guess, & it took a year to finish that & I finished HoO in Spring 2016, if my memory is not faulty. so it's not like many fans to say "my childhood has ended" I was pretty adult when I started to know this world, but I feeling nostalgic anyway, it's like I knew them all my life. it's been a journey nevertheless, through 21+ books.), since book 1 in 2016, the releases, the anticipation, it was thrilling, hilarious, awesome. & I'm happy to see Apollo changed this much through this, grown up.
I just can say thank you Uncle Rick, for making this world, all this series & particularly this one (because Apollo is my favourite god!) I just love him. I feel so happy, so lucky & so thrilled.
I was so afraid to finish it, but also dying to know how it ends. I kept up theorizing this whole year until the book came out. & now I'm joyously thrilled & also simultaneously sad because it has end. (that's the problem with the Great books! you want to finish it ASAP & also you don't want to finish the journey.)
I don't know what to say anymore... I feel emotional. I feel hollow. I want to cry. I want to laugh. the saga has ended! What should I do now!? what can I say? it was beautiful!
this review was more like a summary of how I feel, I didn't know what to say, how to contain my emotions or gathering my thoughts, because I didn't know how to write without giving any spoilers (I think anything I might say about who appeared in this book might be spoiler, so I let you experience that joyful moments of reunions all by yourself); so if you want long reviews about this series, you can check out the reviews of the previous books (up this page) & I mean, anyway, if you are here, want to read the last book, you know Riordan, his books, Apollo & his style pretty well, right?
I sense a book hangover coming! or the sudden urge to re-read it again (or the whole series) - 2023 Reread ooooooooh, now I understand why "that" moment was in Magnus book 3, they didn't know until then! [image] - - - I let my Pre-read thoughts remain, just for the memory, but the review is finished here. - - Anticipations definitely a 5-star of 2020
it's the last book! OMGOMGOMGOMGOMG! I repeat! It's the LAST BOOK! *FANGIRLING PANIC ATTACK*
Pre-released I waited so long for this one, Uncle Rick retold many important Greek myths in modern days & in the best way, we had the 2nd Titan's war, Gaea & the Giants, Circe, Calypso, Hyacynthus & many things, so yeahhhhh I was waiting for this one to happen. I can't wait to read it! it's gonna be awesome! I know it will be one of the top 5 of 2020. it's the last book in this awesome demigods chronicles. (I made myself sad!)
I hope we see some Percabeth & Solangelo moments here. The gang is back on track. I have some hypothesis, let's see... OMG! SO AFRAID! [image]
& anyway, I can’t be the only one wants to see a full 5-book series crossover between Percy Jackson, Camp Jupiter, Magnus Chase & Kane chronicles involving all the characters. A multi-dimensional, multi-mythical apocalypse; Riordanverse goes on a critical turning point because all the bad guys planning to rule the world? - Title announcement: 9/24/2019 Release date: Oct 6th, 2020 Cover revealed: 2/14/2020 (it is gorgeous & exciting & awesome! & Finally blue!)...more

May the last book of 2019 be a Five-Star!
6th best of 2019
I don't lie if I say I wanted to give it 4 stars until the last 10-15 chapters as I was back in the mood for this world again; all those events! It totally deserved 5 in the end. it was definitely better than the first book, the characters met & their stories crossed; so many excitements & sarcasm! I laughed a lot & smirked a lot by their wits.
the whole plot was interesting & exciting, the way I like, the end was fantastic, intriguing & shocking. I could jump into the 3rd book. the only flaw (beside being dragged at some points) was: I wanted more Magnus!
a few words to the characters:
"please love Magnus! don't you see he's under how much pressure!? he has to act like this! & he was grown up by the hands of king of Blood. he is the heir! & it's obvious he's different than him! (why can't you see it?) the way he'd been surprised (but hid it in an instant) by the acts of his surroundings. but he knows, I know he knows... I see, I feel! Pleaseeeee Understand him!"
that's probably my ultimate goal in this series! thank you very much!
the character developments were strong; the choices they made, the way they acted. the Prince is changing. (slowly, but certainly) the Rebel, being braver, stronger & more leader-like. Re-read 2020: Cleo still could make me angry, but I like her now, she's determined & strong. but Lucia is still annoying & so much like Gaius.

As I said, I knew it was one of the top 10 of 2019. (6th best) My most anticipated release of 2019, lived up pretty well to my expectation. The first book I could start in its book birthday! (finished in 2 days! which was quite a record!) (I rated it when the count was number under 1000!)
Updated 10 Dec of 2019: first book reading before ŷ choice award, sooooo: "Congratulation for winning the best middle grade ŷ choice award!" totally deserved it! I'm so proud... my bby! you know me, I love to find trivia, details & relations (with my life) everywhere I can. XD
2022 re-read: kinda thinking about rounding down the rate- yeah, done
I remember when book 1 in this series, the Hidden Oracle, just had been published. It was the first book I could read along with the fandom, the first book after I joined demigods' army, & I was desperately looking for the book everywhere to read it (because there was a chance that book might not be published in our country, thank goodness it was fake.) Now here I am, in the penultimate journey feeling Nostalgic already!
true, my first thought was it is a Smaller roller-coaster comparing to the Burning Maze which had twists & turns in like almost every pages & constantly go on quests in every chapters. Slightly less fun too. but still full of thrillers & laughs! Despite of what I said & how my heart broke several times (I’m still crying just merely reminding of the Burning Maze) & mended (that wasn’t fair!), it was a great story.
the fun! the comparisons! the descriptions! his comebacks! when Apollo trying to convince us we know how he felt. to urge us to understand the weirdest improbable events. & funnily enough, I actually do, even with that strange comparison he experienced in his long life. How the author demonstrated Apollo both as a major deity with 4 thousands plus years old & a modernized 16 year old teenage boy. (he genuinely is both! XD)
the meaning of friendship & family lied in the pages of this book.
Apollo has definitely changed a lot. I’m proud of him.
though still, we have conversations like.
Meg: "Big Baby." Apollo: "I beg your pardon!?"
(Meg & Apollo are my newest Brotp!)
Reyna, you strong woman! you're awesome!
The whole lot of second half of the book was just... WOW! & when the story arrived at what the covers already revealed (but not spoiler), I was grinning like an idiot, internally yelling "weeeeeee! this is what the pretty covers said!"
many unexpected events happened all over the book, both fun or heart-breaking. I cried a lot in the end.
& beside all Riordan's unique writing style & unique-funny-never-getting-old jokes, I love how he channeled into his other stories to remind what happened before, just casually reminding us that. (I always craved to see authors channeling to their other stories & bless you Riordan! you granted my bookish wish again!) Beside telling us the original myths' references & Apollo’s life.
Can I mention I'm pretty sure Riordan reads memes!? & this book showed he is a Marvel fan too. (just as first book showed he is a Supernatural fan!) I'm so thrilled!
I really need to hear Apollo’s songs, it would be great if we had tv shows of Riordanverse.
& by the way, I'm angry at Riordan! (view spoiler)[Why Jason must die (who was Hera's favourite!) but Frank didn't? (hide spoiler)] that might sound cruel, but beside my tears was wasted, I felt betrayed, because my baby... you know what I mean, even Riordan knows it was cruel because it was mentioned in the book, which made me burst into tears, again... *curled up in the corner & cry even more by remembering the moment*
a Must read if you like: a Great Middle grade-regardless of age- fantasy, Greek mythology with unique fun, San Francisco, gods who have lost their powers, desperate last stands & if you read & enjoy all the 13 adventures before. XD
O next book, Where art thou? - World building (premise): ★★★★/5 Characters: ★★★★/5 / Characters development: ★★★★/5 Written style: ★★★★/5 / Fun: ★★★★/5 / Feelz: ★★★★/5 Plot: ★★★★/5 General idea: ★★★★/5...more

when I was in the hangover from Voltron (anime), this book helped me have my good times when I craving for more space sci-fi & school-setting stories. I actually quite liked my status updates in this book. it was fun writing them. it was like I found similarities with Voltron here & there, even with small things! like Is there an echo in here? or hellooooo there I loved it!
update: (anime related. you can skip this part until after the image if you're not interested) I just noticed that, Kal is absolutely Lotor! (Lotor was soooo much better tho!) why haven't I realized it before!? (probably because of the wide range of their characteristic difference (no sass, or rather, little sass. not quite an authority), but the whole appearance was calling out! (& the backstory, of course)) & Aurora's appearance is like Shiro (white bangs!) I saw the cover the moment it was revealed & I had just finished Voltron then, & connecting the dots, I was screamiiiiing!) also Finian is Lance! (a ruder version, but still) well, now I'm pretty sure the authors were inspired by Voltron, or the characters at least. (I just wish we had Klance at least! it was hard enough when it didn't get canon in the series... or at least, had Keith equivalent too for that matter...) okay, okay! I stop fangirling over Voltron & get down to business!
& I guess I'm fully back on reading because of this book. so I must say, thank you Squad 312! [image]
Snarky Gearhead, Finian (why in sci-fi stories my favourite character is the a**hole???) Determined Goldenboy, Tyler (he kind of reminded me of Jason Grace, & though I love Jason more, I like him too. I always have a thing for the serious all-business like leaders who can be sarcastically funny from times to times.) Smooth Face, Scarlett (She knew how to handle the situation. even though I didn't like one specific characteristic of hers, but one, real or fictional, couldn't be perfect at all aspects, & she & Zila are my favourite female characters in this book) Quiet cute Zila (I like her a lot! she was awesome! but no one understands her.) Great Aurora (She was realistic, but at first, too doubtful (though thankfully not annoying!) & overthinking, but I liked her character development & finally started to like her.) Hotshot Zero, Cat (she swore a lot, but through the story, I liked her.) brooding Legolas, Kal
& I have lots of ships now! all of them beautiful.
I like to read about aliens, & they're working with humans (or going against them sometimes?)
the Writing Style, at first, was a bit weird for me; probably the names of technologies & their descriptions, which slowed me down, but as soon as I got used to it, I enjoyed it very much. It was fun. & they were all first person & present tense, but it didn't bother me at all. (which you know I don't like this kind of narration, so it's a strong bold point) & all the POV characters had their own special distinct voice that even if I leave it in the middle of a chapter, when I returned to continue, I exactly knew who was narrating without the need to look back. graceful descriptions of the inside thinking for the characters, & some unique comparisons, made this book even better. though they swore a lot & I didn't like seeing swear words in books.
the Plot was a little slow as I said above, I needed time to got familiar with the world & as I didn't know where I was going (because the characters didn't know either, hehehe) it was a little confusing, but the mystery & questions the story made in my mind & the fun in the writing style & the believable characters & their jokes & sarcasm & teasing with each other was captivating enough to hook me. I loved the party infiltration part the best, it still could make me grin remembering it. & those last pages was such a... wow!
I just wish we could spend more time in the school setting as well & had more plot there.
to be honest, I was a little afraid that this book might disappoint me, because I saw lots of high-ratings & hype & I'm that weird person, that mostly end up not liking the hyped books (I recently figured apparently it happens only if I go in blindly & "only" because of the hype. It wasn't the case here, I knew mostly about the characters & the blurb. I also had lowered my expectations.) so I lowered my expectations (IT'S A POISON I'M TELLING YOU!) so I knew it might be only the plot or writing style that could've annoyed me, which thankfully did not! so I'm very happy & enjoyed the book freely.

5th best of 2018
definitely an All-time favourite. I loved it & enjoyed it very much, every page, every character, every mystery, all outstanding. didn't get bored once. a non-stop quick read.
the World is brilliant, of course. beside the shadowhunter world which is amazing & exciting itself, it happened in Victorian era, like Fantasy in History! It actually was my first try in Historical Fiction, I like it, because that was apparently what I always wanted to read (but I was afraid to get close to Classics), a story in historical era with glimpse of fantasy. (which is sooooooo much more than glimpse here & I'm grateful for that) [image]
also we're knowing more about the shadow world in this series.
"A magnificent story needs a bunch of excellent lovable characters."
Many favorite characters in this world & in this series! Jem, the precious sweetheart, is definitely on the top of them all! He is serious, sometimes with funny comments (smart ones which could silence Will), intelligent & planner, caring, protective, gentle, silent but not shy, warrior, brave (well, he is a shadowhunter *heart eyes*) (view spoiler)[& vulnerable (hide spoiler)]; all the characteristics I like, always. Will, the sarcastic reckless character, in second place. made me laugh a lot. I like him. (but He was a jerk sometimes & I feel a need of backstory here, which we saw glimpse of it here (& in second read it totally made my eyes teary) & will get in next books); also Will's entrance was fantastic! loved it! don't read this part if you haven't read the whole series:(view spoiler)[Re-read 2022Now that I know why he was liked that, I see it through the whole book, the struggle & it wrenched my heart fun fact: Will was like Alec with Jace manners & I imagined Will blond & Jem with black hairs many times during reading, it was not intentional (the name vibes) & I corrected myself immediately after that but it was good times! (not happened in book 2 or 3, or re-read!) tho Jem is different from Alec, I found Alec a little shy, but Jem is not. (hide spoiler)]
“Will rolled up his sleeves. "We'll probably have to knock down the door--" "Or," said Jem, reaching out and giving the knob a twist, "not." The door swung open onto a rectangle of darkness. "Now, that's simply laziness," said Will.
they both are amazing & sassy & cool! I love their relationship! caring, protective & funny! priceless!
"...Many who have gazed upon me have compared the experience to gazing at the radiance of the sun." Jem still had his eyes closed. "If they mean it gives you a headache, they aren't wrong.
Charlotte, Tessa & most of the main women characters were good too. (well, except Jessamine, she was whiny & rude. but then, in later books, I came to like her.) I admire Charlotte, she was strong & kind. Henry was clueless & cute too. & maybe there is a love triangle (not maybe, it's certain!); but for Once, it didn't annoy me, probably because I couldn't choose the side, both sides were amazing & tender. while in other triangles, one side is obviously superior & the other is just extra drama & it seems just stupid why the heroine couldn't pick one, but here, EVEN most of us, readers, couldn't pick a side! it was brilliant! & I loved it! (In general, Cassie's love triangles never annoyed me & there always another reason too.) love this relationship; it is so well-created & of course, funny; including friendship, barriers, prevention, hatred-love situation.
I could see author's writing skills improved since the mortal instruments. It was more elegant & magnificent now.
the beginning was a bit vague & complicated, but interesting, the end was amazing. & in the middle many events & problems occurred & mysteries revealed! (view spoiler)[& the Plot twist! omg I love Friends to Enemies & villains in disguise tropes! (hide spoiler)]
in my opinion, this one was generally better than City of Bones & that was great too.
can I say how stunning these covers are? I mean, WOW! Will looks gorgeous! (& he is looked like Ian somerhalder & Matthew Daddario!) I'm in love with all version of the covers in this series!
reread 2022: of course my first re-read of my new favourites would be Shadowhunters! yep, yep. & I kind of was afraid that in my re-read I might not like it as much as my first time, but needn't to worry. I loved it even more! 2025: not exactly a reread, but I just read the manga, so since I returned to this world & the plot, I mentioning here. the Manga was pretty & artful, but reading it in words is always better. I also read my highlights after & had a good laugh. Will & Jem, my favourite duo. - World building: ★★★★/5 Characters: ★★★★/5 Plot: ★★★★/5 Writing style: ★★★★/5 General idea: ★★★★/5...more
4.5 Golden Stars for all of the 15 books of Deltora
1st series; Deltora Quest, 8 AMAZING books, & a Complete 5 Golden Stars. 2nd series; Deltora Shadowla4.5 Golden Stars for all of the 15 books of Deltora
1st series; Deltora Quest, 8 AMAZING books, & a Complete 5 Golden Stars. 2nd series; Deltora Shadowlands is my Least favourite (only the 3rd book gave me the excitement I was looking for.) so, 3.5 Golden Stars. 3rd series & the last; Dragons of Deltora, was cute, & 2 of my all-time favourite Deltora books locates in there; so 4 Golden Stars. (also the ending was so satisfying)
maybe a middle grade, but a totally awesome one. quick read one of the series I recommend if you want a good middle grade with great characters & otherworldly creatures. Deltora probably was the 2nd series I read & finished, years ago, in the middle of being a teenager, by recommendation of my friends. I didn't think I would like it this much, but I loved it! it was so cute, magical, adventurous & exhilarating. Idk if it's considered as high fantasy, but if it is, Deltora was my first High Fantasy (I think we can categorize it as a middle grade high fantasy?) & is the best different world I want to live in. simple writing style.
like always, I loved the lead character, Lief, he was cute, brave, sometimes idiot, sometimes funny & stubborn. I've been curious by every page since the beginning. first we have a flashback (I mostly don't like the flashbacks, but this one was great.) I LOVED THE FIRST SERIES! full of shocking events, stealth mode & hiding, revelations & plot twists & in general very satisfying excitements! also the world is DARK! MuHahahaha! XD so many adventures from the Forests of Silence to the Valley of Losts, travelling through Deltora; crossing the Lake of Tears, Dread Mountain, the Shifting Sands, the Maze of the Beast & many more exhilarating, funny, breathtaking exploits & trials to accomplish their quest, to revive Deltora & free it from the reign of terror of Shadowlord. such a journey, with so many surprises & many riddles! (I loved the riddles, cute poem-like & funny, always tried to solve them myself!) also the names of the places were beautifully chosen. Deltora itself had 2 (maybe even 3) reasons upon it, you should read to see why. I loved when I found out why it called Deltora!
in the second series, we're going to the Shadowland just as the name confirmed itself & maybe the 1st two books were a bit plain but THE 3RD compensated all the Breathtaking moments for itself! (to be fair, we have a tiny one at the end of the 1st book too)
& in the 3rd series, we're about to looking for the Dragons, awesome, right? - World building: ★★★★/5 Characters: ★★★★/5 Writing Style: ★★★★/5 plot: ★★★★()/5 General idea: ★★★★/5...more
