This was a fun and funny memoir, and I really enjoyed it. I liked the mix of personal anecdotes and famous scam stories and thought the writing was actually quite strong, which isn't always the case for books like this. I definitely recommend picking this one up and look forward to hopefully more writing from Mosley in the future....more

This definitely feels a bit more raw than his other books, probably because it's more of a live-show format, but overall I had a great time listening to this and it's made me want to go back and re-listen to his other books....more

It’s very irreverent, but I liked that. It certainly shined a light on how much American history is put on a pedestal by people wearing rose-colored glasses. While many of these essays tilt into the absurd, they still are able to point out the flaws in our view of history and how we need to teach the good with the bad. Overall a very fun read, that still made me think!...more

I know many reviewers didn’t care for Darcy, the main character, but I really enjoyed her voice. Yes, she was a mess, but in a lot of ways she felt really authentic. I also really enjoyed all the characters of this small town and how all their personalities played out online. I listened to the audiobook and the narration is fantastic, but I think I would have enjoyed it just as much in a physical copy. It's one that I would definitely recommend because it, like Ruffin and Lamar's previous book, is eye-opening to all the little ways racism plays out and that it's not always blatant, like I think some people believe. This one does have a bit more of a serious tone than their first book, but it's still written in a very accessible way....more
