As much as I like Tom and Gabe as characters, their relationship is based on close proximity only and it feels rushed, as is the case with the relationships in previous books. It felt very generic and simplistic.
The demon plotline, that started with book 2, bored me. For most of the book there's nothing happening besides overexplaining how things work and trying to come up with a solution to the problem. Marc's character was pretty dull. What kind of demon chats with humans about mundane things? A couple other characters annoyed me more than before Tom's nana and Connor's uncle. Still not a fan of Connor, either.
I only finished this because I was listening to the audiobook. Maybe it's me, since I'm not that into stories with demons. I usually find them ridiculous and this book proved it. I very much prefer book 1 over the other ones, because I found the storyline way more interesting and fun....more

I really liked Skye and Daniel and their dynamic from the moment I met them. They are super sweet, but I wish there was more development in their relationship. It feels very rushed from their first kiss to calling each other boyfriends and ILY's.
There's not much action in this one, similar to book 2, until the very end. The story ends with a cliffhanger, and I'm interested to see what happens next....more

There is a lot of explaining how vortex works, I got bored. The romance between Kieran and Connor is rushed and relies too much on convenience. I prefer when a relationship develops in a more natural way, without so much interference from every character around them. Also their initial animosity and Connor's flirtations feel forced.
I did really enjoy spending more time with the characters I met in the previous book and I liked the introduction of Gabe's character....more

It's light and entertaining, exactly what I was looking for, and it has a great set of characters. I can honestly say that I loved every single one of them, ghosts included. I liked the humor and a bit of suspense thrown in.
I wasn't sure how the romance between Josh and Ewan would develop after their initial hook up, but it was actually quite adorable. There was some misunderstanding at the very beginning, but I thought it was fun. It took them a while to get together again and when they did, it was really cute. Totally worked for me. Except for ILY's that I feel came too soon.
I liked the setting and the found family aspect of the story. It was lovely to see the friendships between the characters and how well Josh fit with the rest of the group, especially since he'd never been accepted by the people around him.
Excellent narration by Nick J. Russo. He's always great, but this audiobook might be one of my favourites narrated by him. The dialogues flow so nicely and naturally, and the drunk scene is hilarious.
I'll be continuing with the series, because I want more of these characters. I'm looking forward to read about one future couple, hinted at in this story....more

This was so good! Everyone who says that this is like reading 'the old' Josh Lanyon is right. Is it perfect and without a flaw? No, but I was completely invested in the story from the beginning until the end.
This author is so good at writing second chance romance. She always makes it feel believable. I loved the chemistry and the dynamics between Beau and Archie, their past, their initial animosity and how it transforms by the end.
The story is told from one POV, Archie’s, and it never felt like something was missing. It’s another thing that this author is really good at. As well as writing characters like Beau and Archie. They feel familiar, in a good way.
There’s a good balance between mystery and romance, with some paranormal elements. There’s not too much of anything. I wouldn’t say no to more romance, but the ending is very Josh Lanyon. ...more

This author is so good at writing unusual and compelling characters. I liked both Sevy and Rocco, their connection and the way they act and interact with other people. The dialogues were great.

I love them so much and I couldn't be happier with where they are in their relationship. The ending was lovely and so very fitting for both of them.
The mystery was intriguing and well thought out. I really liked how the investigation unfolded. Some parts were too gruesome and unsettling for me, so I had to skim a bit. It's the only thing that affected my enjoyment of this book. Luckily, there was a lot of humor and banter to balance it out.

The relationship development is not in the foreground of the story and I actually preferred it that way. I think the balance between the romance and the main plot was just right for this type of story. I was also happy to find out that it features one of my favourite tropes.
The adventure plot was well-written. I liked the pacing and I liked the side characters. Well, most of them. When it comes to the supernatural elements, I expected a bit more, but I was still satisfied with how things wrapped up.

I loved them as much as in the previous books. Their dynamics and their banter are still fantastic. I love Rain's humor and Danny is just pure perfection. I wish there was more on page time with them as a couple and less time spent of wedding planning, but the romantic moments made up for it.
The mystery. I have to say that it was my least favorite so far. I found it very intriguing at first, I always enjoy how complex the mysteries in this series are, but I wasn't comfortable with some of the things that happened later on in this story. Also, I feel like the other members of the PTU weren't as involved in the case as before.
The end. Even though I think this could be a satisfying end to the series, I'm counting on Rain and Danny to keep talking to the author in hope that there will be more books about them in the future. I hope Dakota has something to say too, because I would absolutely love a book about him, set in the same world, with Rain and Danny nearby. ...more

I'm conflicted about this one. I love Eli everything about him, really, but I'm not that fond of Julien. For the most part I didn't know what to think of his character. I just didn't find him interesting or appealing enough.
I think it's because of Julien that I didn't feel much chemistry between them. From Julien's POV, I get why he would be attracted to Eli. But it didn't work for me the other way around. I'm happy to say that I completely agree with Eli that it's better not to speak in certain, more intimate, situations. I hope that, in the future, Julien will follow Eli's example.
I felt the same way about the story. It took me a while to get into it and, while it had its moments, I wasn't fully invested in it. I did like the ending, though, so fingers crossed for the next one.

Sadly, I enjoyed this book even less than the previous two.
The mystery. I couldn't get invested in it at all. It felt weak, I didn't care about most of the characters involved and a lot of plot points seemed improbable. Especially how everything was resolved in the end.
Cosmo and John. The good thing is that John finally committed to his relationship with Cosmo and said some nice things. Though coming from a person as rigid as John, they didn't sound as heartwarming as I hoped. The bad thing is that John still doesn't treat Cosmo as his equal and Cosmo was exceptionally reckless in this one and made some really stupid decisions.
I think I should have stopped with book 2, but this was initially supposed to be the last book in the trilogy and I wanted to complete it. Now that I did, it doesn't feel complete because of the very vague ending. ...more

I like Cosmo. He is a sweet and fun character, though I wish he stood up for himself more. I still haven't warmed up to John. He seems very closed off and cold on the outside and he can be very selfish and condescending toward Cosmo. Hopefully there will be some improvement in his character in the next book.

This book was almost perfect. And it might be my favourite in the series so far.
Rain and Danny are just amazing. I love them as characters and I love everything about their relationship, both the emotional parts and the humor. The banter between them is spot on.
I absolutely loved Rain's family in this one, as well as Dakota and everyone on the PTU team. I love how this author manages to write quirky and fun characters without ever making them sound silly or OTT.
The mystery was excellent, probably my favourite so far, as well. As the author put it nicely, the way it unfolded was like peeling layers of an onion. And I enjoyed every step of the way.
My only complaint is that there were a few inconsistencies in the story, and there were a couple of scenes that I had minor issues with. But nevertheless, I still loved it and enjoyed reading it immensely.

I liked him and Gawain together, although the insta-love felt more believable coming from Zephyr than Gawain. The one thing I personally didn’t enjoy and found a bit cringy were the sex scenes. Mainly because Zephyr seems so innocent to me and in my mind he is a dragon, no matter what shape he’s taken.

This ended up being so much better than I thought it would be while going through the first half of the book. Mainly because I found the ghosts extremely annoying, I hated that Rain had no control over them, and on top of that the case seemed to be going nowhere.
I'm glad I pushed through because I absolutely loved the last third of the book or so. I really liked how Rain decided to deal with the ghost situation. The case they were working on turned out to be more complex than it seemed at first. I actually liked the mystery in this book more than in the first. I think the author did a really good job at keeping us in the dark for a long time, as frustrating as it was at times.
My favourite part of the story were Rain and Danny. They have an amazing relationship and I loved seeing them grow as a couple. Loved the humor, the banter and the chemistry between them, as well as some really sweet moments.
** 9/2020 Re-read via audio: I liked Kirt's narration overall, but I wasn't a fan of the voice he gave every other character except for Rain. All of them sounded almost the same, kind of tired and bored. I wouldn't mind it that much if only he'd given Danny a nicer voice.
