Overall, I liked the concept and it was interesting to see how the story developed. It was a bit slow at times and maybe not everything made perfect sense, but I didn't mind it much.
The reason I'm not giving it a higher rating is that I never felt the connection to the characters and I found the story sadder and more depressing than I expected. ...more

The beginning was really strong and seemed promising, but at some point the story took a direction I didn't anticipate and, what's more important, wasn't comfortable with. The rest of the storyline didn't work so well for me, nor the resolution at the end.
The middle part was slow and at times it seemed like nothing was happening. The story is very science-heavy, but more in a way that felt info-dumpy to me. It didn't help that I found Logan hard to connect with and, as the story progressed, quite unlikable.

The audiobook was excellent. I've already mentioned it in my review for book 1, but there's something about Tony's character and Zachary Quinto's narration that give this series a film noir kind of feel. Looking forward to the next installment.

It is both thought-provoking and heart-warming I loved everything about it the concept, the storyline, the writing, the humor, the characters. Sadly, I can't say much about the plot, or the part of the story that I absolutely loved the most, without spoiling anything, so I'm going to keep this review brief.
The book is very science heavy, I would say even more than The Martian. However, the author explains everything very gradually and in such a way that I could easily understand what was happening and why, and I never felt lost. Honestly, I don't know where the author comes up with all his ideas but I think he's brilliant. I had so much fun reading this. ...more

I liked the concept. The beginning (Part 1) and the very ending were my favourite parts. Everything in between dragged for me. There were endless dialogues, a lot of things were left vague or seemed pointless and, apart from Klara, I felt no emotional connection to any of the characters.
The audiobook was pretty good. I liked that there was a clear distinction between the way Klara and the other characters speak, though I think that the narrator's British accent, as well as the portrayal of one English character, felt very unnatural. ...more

This one was hard to rate. While I liked the writing and there were some elements that I enjoyed, including one very pleasant surprise, I can't say I enjoyed the story as a whole. I can safely say that it's me and not the book. I didn't know what to expect going in and when the story finally started to unfold, it turned out to be something I personally don't care reading about.
I liked DJ and Jenny was ok, but I still don't know how I feel about Noa. While I was reading this, I was constantly going back and forth between liking him and finding him annoying. Also, not sure if the author is planning to write a sequel to this story, but I was hoping for more closure for the characters.
The audiobook was really good. I loved that all the characters had distinct voices and personalities. ...more

I really liked the beginning and the end. The writing was amazing, very poetic. I actually enjoyed it more than the story itself. I also loved both narrators, their voices were just perfect for this book.
However, as much as I loved the audio, I think that it might have been easier if I'd read the book myself. There's not much plot or world-building here, but the story is still very complex and I admit I felt a little lost sometimes. I'm also not a huge fan of time travel. I always find something that doesn't make sense to me, and that usually pulls me out of the story.
As for the characters, I didn't really connect to them. I enjoyed their correspondence, but I don't think they had much personality. ...more

I loved the characters. Barry is exactly the type of character I love in a sci-fi/thriller. The writing style was beautiful and full of emotion. The world the author created was extremely well crafted, I loved his ideas about life and memory. To avoid spoilers, I won't go into any details about the plot. I'll just say that it's fast-paced, creative and very clever.

5 stars for Zachary Quinto's narration. His beautiful, warm and soothing voice was perfect for this story and he did a wonderful job giving each character their own voice and personality.
