The art is amazing, no doubt, but most of the story itself irritated me. I mean, everyone spontaneously falls in love with Elise, and not a single person dislikes her despite her fame? She solves all the problems that the empire faces (partially due to her knowing what will happen in the future) and no one questions it?? The prince is liTERALLY THE BLANDEST ML I'VE EVER ENCOUNTERED??? THEY DON'T HAVE CARS BUT THEY DO HAVE AED'S???? SOMEONE MAKE IT MAKE SENSE.
Yeah. I was certainly expecting more considering just how much hype surrounds this, and while I did make my way through the entire thing, I never really got what I was expecting, or anything even remotely near it.

Then the story progressed. And progressed. And progressed.
The chemistry between Kate and Ian just sort of... fizzled out? It was all very anticlimactic. The story was dragged on and on and on, to the point where it became repetitive and boring. When it finally did end, however, many plotlines were left hanging and certain parts of the plot were just never really wrapped up. It was extremely sudden and extremely irritating.
Overall, the art was good and that's about it. I regret the time I wasted reading this but oh well....more
It is a truth universally acknowledged that romances where the ML falls for the FL first are superior.

I'm just going to admit it: I'm absolute It is a truth universally acknowledged that romances where the ML falls for the FL first are superior.

I'm just going to admit it: I'm absolute trash for fluffy romances where you can feel yourself turning into a pile of pathetic goo while also subconsciously realizing that the reason you have such unhealthy standards for relationships and people in general is because you're always comparing them to fictional characters, but we don't talk about that.
Sica and Karsus (hahaha sus) and their entire dynamic was absolutely A+. It was so fun to read about their individual backstories and the way they worked so well together as a team, apart from just their romantic dynamic. Yes, there were some yandere moments from both of them, but we don't talk about that.
Of course, the best stories have a little bit of everything: a solid plot and a solid romance, without either overshadowing the other. And this manhwa has EXACTLY THAT. You don't even know how much I freaked out when I realized that there was a healthy balance here that ACTUALLY WORKED.

The romance is good and cute and adorable.
The plot is absolutely amazing.
The plot twist at the end was extremely predictable but whatever.
So why did I absolutely not love this?
Simple: a group of characters known as the 'savages'. The thing that really bothered me about them was how they were portrayed compared to literally all of the other characters.
Almost all of the main characters and protagonists are white/pale-skinned, while the 'savages' are drawn in darker shades. The 'savages' also wear feathered headbands and other paint markings on their faces/bodies. Which, just- uMMM ??? Really rubbed me the wrong way, even if it might not have been completely intentional.
I've been told that these sort of things are present in a lot of manhwas because of cultural/ethnic homogeneity in the country of origin, but still. As a non-white person, it was borderline uncomfortable to read.

So yeah. As much as I loved the characters and the romance and the plot, it wasn't a total five-star read because of those issues. Apart from that, I really did enjoy this, especially since it wasn't needlessly dragged out and solid from start to finish. The ending might have been a bit rushed but in my opinion it really worked for the story, and made for a cute resolution to everything....more

Tbh, I'm not even entirely sure why I kept reading this. Let's just chalk it up to the great art and the weirdly addicting way that it's written, because there was nothing that I actually enjoyed? And it had all the tropes that I usually hate??
Case in point, there's Ran, the protagonist herself. I absolutely could not stand Ran. She was incredibly annoying, whiny, and downright unlikeable. She doesn't know how to communicate properly with *anyone*, which leads to a lot of misunderstandings and widespread girl-on-girl hate.
Speaking of which, it was everywhere?? Like, the random girls in Ran's class just automatically hate Ran, for absolutely no reason. They haven't had to know every single thing she says and does for two whole seasons never really knew her but were mean to her behind her back anyway. Why? I have no idea.
Where Ran's communication issues could have been a point of personal growth for her, they, along with her tRaGiC pAsT, were basically used as an excuse for her infuriatingly childish behavior. In the seventy-some episodes that I read, I think she only took responsibility for her actions and words once.
None of the characters, including Ran, really have any personality. Rolfe (Olfie??)'s defining trait was that he was Ran's childhood friend who she was majorly crushing on. Eggy's defining trait was how iNnOcEnT and CuTe he is. The girls in Ran's class are the mEaN gIrLs. Ran is qUiRkY, not-like-other-grills, not that pretty or popular (someone pls explain why everyone starts swooning over her when she smiles if she's so plain), but she's smart, dedicated, and *literally* everyone is in love with her.
But enough about the god-awful characters, because I can assure you the plot was worse.
That is to say, there was none.
Literally, all this was about was how Ran is stuck between choosing Olfie and Eggy?? At least season 2 had some inklings of a plot, which was mostly just speculation about where the eggnoids came from. And when I say 'speculation', I really mean speculation. We are no closer to figuring it out than where we were at the beginning.

The only thing that has kept me from absolutely condemning this dumpster fire (and let's be honest here, calling quits a while ago) was the art. It was extremely polished and well-drawn, almost sparkly. I think the art was the only thing I ACTUALLY liked about this.
THE PLOT-TWISTS WERE SOUL-CRUSHconsider this a 'review' of the entire webtoon:
AAAAAAAHHHHH THIS WAS SO FUN
THE ART WAS AMAZING
THE ROMANCE WAS BEAUTIFUL
THE PLOT-TWISTS WERE SOUL-CRUSHING
THE CHARACTERS WERE SIMP-WORTHY
there were some plotlines that i felt were left dangling at the end, like what happened to zylith's dad or the repairer (mostly because the urge to punch both of them is VERY strong), but there was enough fan-service at the end that i'm happy.
overall, it was a cute webtoon that i really enjoyed!...more
