I think especially when it comes to a comic book style story, having the sound effects and different voice actors just really brings everything to life. I would rather listen to one of these than watch a movie of the same style any time.
As for the narrative content, I liked that a lot too. I've been reading a whole lot more DC than Marvel stuff recently. I grew up thinking I was more of a Marvel fan because of the X-Men, but my recent reading history might suggest otherwise. Regardless, I don't know much about Captain America beyond the movies. Even though the title doesn't suggest as much, this story succeeds the events of Marvel's Civil War. It essentially begins with Cap imprisoned from his recent surrender.
Overall I found everything about the pacing, the characters, and the overall story very enjoyable. I'm definitely interested in listening to a Graphic Audio rendition of whatever story comes next in this Marvel timeline.

It's tough to remember back that far, but I think it was actually this book that I read back then. And I was hooked back then. Absolutely loved it. So much so, that I decided to try going for the whole "Secret History of the World" series as opposed to just Repairman Jack. The problem is it didn't hold my attention. Not that the few books I read weren't good, quite the contrary. It just wasn't my style.
I'm trying to push aside my inherent completionist nature and just do what brings me joy. And boy, did this book bring me joy. I immediately picked up All the Rage and I plan on that being my first book of 2025! I can't wait to see where this story goes and how far into this "otherness" Jack gets....more
