Also there were quite a few typos, but all the great photos made up for that. :O)...more

I loved every second of reading this book, it was so action packed and fast pace I found myself feeling a little breathless at points, desperate to keep reading on and find out what would happen next. The story was amazingly put together with several big surprises that when looked back on had hints of what was coming, so it wasn't like it came out of nowhere. Sam and Meg both learned some important lessons in this tale, particularly Meg who was the catalyst for time travel to the 18th century and all the things that happened while they were there. The duo end up involved with pirates and no details are spared on just how rough that sort of life was back then, pirating is not for the faint hearted! All the characters we meet are richly drawn and full of personality, which serve to make the story more real and the nature of pirates makes hard to know who's friend or foe. While there's a lot of serious stuff going on in the story there's still moments of humour which a really well done and made me chuckle. Finally the book ends on a HUGE cliffhanger! I can't wait to see what happens next....more

So many twists and turns, it was hard to out down because once again I wanted to know how Sam and Meg would fix everything! Having got to the fourth book in the series now, I have to say, it was a great idea to have the two protaganists who tell the story from first person POV in alternating chapters, it really helps you get into each character's head and see what motivates them. Meg really shines in this one too, showing a lot of resourcefulness and foresight I wish I had! I also really enjoyed how Sam's view events began to change as he saw the dangers in tampering with known events, although it does bring up worries about what can be changed and can't be. Finally the resolution to the plot was amazingly well-down and despite the confusion it caused me at first with Sam and Meg's personal timeline it was explained and made sense. Once again I can't wait to read the next book in the series and see what more is in store for Sam and Meg....more

And indeed a future shock! At several points I couldn't stop reading anxious to find out what would happen and whether everything should turn out all right in the end. Interestingly enough the book ends with a question mark over whether it will, which certainly makes me eager to keep on reading the series and find out what Sam and Meg do next. For anyone interested in time travelling tales I recommend this series, you won't be disappointed!...more

I particularly enjoyed how well-drawn all the characters were, especially considering there were quite a few of them, but they were all believable and had clear motivations for their actions. It's clear a lot of research was put into this story, right down to the medieval-speak! I was pretty amazing and really added to the authenticity of the tale and the realism. The ending was not what I expected at all, but it harkened back to the end of the first book and provided an interesting resolution to a plot point and certainly made things easier for Sam to deal with. I've all ready purchased the third book through Amazon and am ready to read more about Sam and Meg!...more

I've always meant to read it though and I finally got around to getting the e-book although I would have liked to get the actual paperback, but I digress. Anyway this book was absolutely brilliant, especially for fans of the Back to the Future franchise, such as myself, as the author, Kristen Sheley, is also a fan and the book has the odd shout out to the series. The characters are all very compelling and well-drawn, especially the two main characters, who I really liked and were rooting for the whole way through. There was plenty of action to keep the pages turning (er metaphorically) and the last couple of chapters are particularly gripping. There a few continuity errors here and there, but nothing that really detracts from the story. I'm very much looking forward to reading the next book in the series!...more
