The characters were all so different than how Alice remembered them 10 years ago and it was a puzzle figuring out who her family members changed, how she has changed, and how her friends during that 10 years have changed her. It was a sweet juxtaposition to see how simply her 1998 self viewed life and situations compared to her self-involved, self-assured, "busy busy busy" self of 2008.
