I have mixed feelings on this book. I think it's very interesting for a plot, and very mature and forward thinking way to conduct an open relationship. That being said, that mature open relationship was constantly shat upon by the heroine, even though she had agreed to it after making the Hero break (without their knowledge) his previous contracts with the other women. His duplicity and her inability to play by the rules, made me dislike them. BUT, I also feel like she had a very realistic reaction to the whole situation.
As for the audiobook. The narrator had a great voice for the main character. However, there was ZERO change in tone or voice when any other character was speaking, or when she was thinking something versus saying it out loud, so it made it hard to follow at times. ...more

The action starts right away, as does the steam. But they turned out to be the same guy, and that was revealed fairly early on. (hide spoiler)] I liked both characters, and really loved their relationship. And I also liked the scenes at the heat clinic, but never really felt a romantic connection between the pack and our h. It felt to me like she was settling for them because she couldn't be with James, and because she physically needed them (their knots) to live. There was also an underlying but blatant speciesism (racism) that I didn't like or want to read about. Overall, an okay book. I was curious how I would like this one, since I'm not fond of the sibling's ex theme. But i think this one was done in a way that was sort of different than others that I've read. And I liked that even though it had a sort of douchiness to the end of the previous relationship, the brother wasn't really a bad guy, and I'm looking forward to reading his book now too....more

I loved the idea o2.5 Stars I wanted a paranormal listen, and this blurb sounded really good and unique, so I grabbed the audiobook from AudiblePlus. I loved the idea of the monsters in the dreams, and also loved the seemingly budding relationship with the doctor in the asylum. Unfortunately for me, the dreams and the asylum parts (why I had grabbed the book) quickly faded out. What felt like immediately, she was pulled into the paranormal world, and everything I had been looking forward to reading about, was over. Not only did that disappoint me, I didn't realize until almost the end of this book, that it was a series and not a standalone. There was a bit of a twist at the end that I really enjoyed, and I think that if I hadn't already been so annoyed with the book by then, I would have been excited to read the next book. But because of the already mentioned issues, and the fact that I HATED the narration of the audiobook, if I do someday decide to continue, it would be by ebook, not audio. her voice was good, and I thought perfectly suited the character, however she had bad pronunciations on words, saying: anything (en-uh-thang), everything (ev-ruh-thang), been (bean). And for some reason, those words seemed to be said constantly, just annoying me more....more

I had never heard of it, or the author, so was very pleasantly surprised that I liked it so much. I'm not sure if it was meant to be a play on Lucifer (the show) or if it was just sort of Biblical reimagining, but there were occasions where the similarities popped up and were pretty obvious. I kind of enjoyed that. The show was a favorite of mine, so when things in the book reminded me of it, it brought a happy smile to my face. The audio narration was great, too. Some of the character names (very Biblical) were confusing, especially since the Fallen Angels went by their names, their sin and some times nicknames. But it didn't ruin the story. My only complaint, it was a [soft] cliffhanger, and I didn't know going in. Add to that that book two doesn't come out for a few more months, and there is every chance that I'll have forgotten this story, and won't pick up the next book. Which is a shame, because it was such a good read....more

There is no doubt that it was a unique story, and the whole body farm thing was truly fascinating. I loved the competition that went on between the couple, and the banter was top notch.
What I didn't love was that the underlying plot was really similar to Butcher & Blackbird, also by one of these authors (Brynne Weaver). Rival serial unalivers with humor and a sort of deading competition going on between them. And while I love that idea, it just didn't feel it was unique enough to be separated in my mind from B&B, and the other books that are out with that same plot. I also felt like the end was tied up too quickly (odd feeling, since I thought the book was starting to drag towards the end) and neatly. But over all, I did like it, and would still recommend it if people are into this type of storyline....more
