**spoiler alert** I thought that this book was good because it portrayed August as not a victim of his disease but as a normal kid trying to live life
**spoiler alert** I thought that this book was good because it portrayed August as not a victim of his disease but as a normal kid trying to live life. He was born with a disability that kept him from doing things like going to school because of extensive surgeries. I really thought that the author had done a good job when depicting how people stared at people like August because of his face even though he was a normal kid in the inside because it did give awareness for people not to stare or to treat someone better. The book, in general, had a good plot but I feel that the author could have made the character have too many mood swings.

**spoiler alert** I thought that this was a great book that showed how life was in Nazi Germany, not for a Jew, not for a nazi, but for a girl named Liesel who is adopted because of her sick mother. It shows her going through lots of pain, starting with her mother giving her up, and then her brother dying while he was in her arms, then getting a new family. She learnes to love them as they teach her how to write, and she gets a new friend. they go through a lot, including the housing of a Jew and joining Hitler Youth. She finds love with her best friend and becomes acquaintanced with the Mayor's wife who lets her read her books and even pretends not to have known when Liesel "steals" them. After all of her character growth, the book ends when Himmel Street in Munich is bombed, and she is the only survivor because she was writing her book, The Book Thief, in the basements when they were bombed.
