I’ve not read Michael Wolff’s book nor Omarosa’s, but I think it safe to say all three say the same thing, with Woodward just being more credible. At the end of the day, though, it’s little more than tabloid gossip. If you've been paying attention, none of it is new.
It’s laudable that these interviews are supposedly on tape, but why am I to take them at their word to begin with? Why are we to trust their sincerity? More than a few times their accounts are delivered so as to paint themselves, and Trump also, in a better light. They often come across as heroes when their agenda’s are just as bad as Trumps. And further, it's perfectly possible to present factual, nuanced, critical analysis of the narrative itself without presenting your own point of view. The best we get instead is definitions of things, like what NAFTA is, or what a SKIF is.
Trump is who he is; a foolish, ignorant man who formed his opinions forty years ago and cleaves to them as if they were holy writ. He does not read, study, or learn the issues or policy. He doesn't learn from past mistakes. He's impulsive, and makes snap decisions without due consideration or reflection. And let us not forget the authoritarian tendencies, racism, and misogyny. None of that has changed and you don’t gain any more or less illumination from having read this book. The money for this would be better spent on a newspaper subscription instead. ...more
