this is so true. this whole book is filled with the push and “For two people that loved each other this much, we caused a ridiculous amount of pain.
this is so true. this whole book is filled with the push and pull between Darragh and Pina. they're literally the most stubborn characters i've ever read. neither one was willing to accept that they wanted each other. too much angst, and it was only near the end that they finally got their hea!!
 32-24
pina suffered a lot. she was extremely indecisive, hurt, temperamental, and selfless, and because of that, she suffered a lot. it all makes sense in the end when she put it all out clearly—how she killed his father instead of lucien (the enemy) and got herself kidnapped. darragh, for all his love for pina, only thought that pushing her away was the best option. this dynamic continued throughout the book.
pina's trauma from the time she was with lucien, paired with the months she spent alone with her brother because darragh broke up with her, was really bad for her. i do understand that he thought everything that happened to her was because of him, and being with him meant she would die. but, as pina said, they all assumed what was better for her rather than asking her.
after a lot of angst, getting shot, and being constantly hurt, darragh finally confessed—but not before he was about to lose her again. long story short, he killed lucien in the end, and pina was shot in the lung (they're soulmates jahsjsjs, because he was shot in the same place by her brother lol). she recovered, and he gave her the choice to have a year for herself. she took it, they reunited after a year, and he waited for her. they got married ...more
i didn’t anticipate that this would actually be really good. mafia books these days are seriously exactly the same, and even though i love this trope,i didn’t anticipate that this would actually be really good. mafia books these days are seriously exactly the same, and even though i love this trope, everything is similar one way or another. insta lust or love, or it’s either marriage for honor and all. this, however, was kind of different, and it wasn’t all about the relationship but rather the plot too, which was very interesting!
i loved the writing style! it was very nicely written and was more show than tell. if you’re looking for a mafia book where they both are enemies, he’s an assassin from the rival family who has to kill the mafia princess but instead saves her life when she commits suicide, & even though he tries many times to kill her, he doesn’t and rather makes her his business partner then his wife, of course ...more

as I said, the first one was borderline sketchy with consent, but this one was tiptoeing between rape and dubcon. I thought I'd feel that way f3 stars
as I said, the first one was borderline sketchy with consent, but this one was tiptoeing between rape and dubcon. I thought I'd feel that way for book one, but nope, this one was it. this book didn’t give much to the plot (the whole secrets thing), but it did explore more of their relationship!
It picked up right from book 1. They spent the majority of the book fighting, traveling, and fucking. That’s it.
personally, i didn’t like the placement of the past scenes because they were in between the ANGSTY chapters, and I wanted to read the present scenes at that time lol. but the past scenes were good and gave insight into their relationship!
I’m literally so fucking sad for Jasmine. Even though she acted indecisive and maybe is kind of too trusting and naive, I don’t hate her. She’s left with no choice, and it’s not like she gave in to Roth—he just forced her until she had to. It was so freaking angsty, and I love how she never once had sex with him without a brutal fight. Though his whole "your body reacts to me" and her "my body sings for him" made me angry ☺️
James Roth is truly a bitch, i swear. again, mentioning it it's a crime not getting his pov. He’s so manipulative and cruel with his words. Sometimes, he’s so fucking nice that you’ll love him so much, and then he’ll pull the rug out, and you realize he truly is an asshole. i hated him. i hated him so much sometimes, but then I loved him. His actions showed he cares for her, but his words... as he said, "he’s not good with words." I agree.
- Around 50% in, when he told her she was a lonely, neglected girl and that he took advantage of her in the beginning, fucked her, and left, what Jasmine felt was so freaking depressing ...more
this entire trilogy had so much potential, but obviously, it wasn't done justice. just finished it, and tbvh, i don't even care about this whole book this entire trilogy had so much potential, but obviously, it wasn't done justice. just finished it, and tbvh, i don't even care about this whole book now because of what happened with Kitt Azer. i'll never forget, and i'll definitely never forgive!
this started off ridiculously. "you are to be my bride" was never shocking enough, but the fact that the whole scene was so boring kinda sums up the first few chapters. like, everything was embarrassingly corny.
one moment payden is all dying, swaying, and the other moment somebody curses her out and kai saves her. she's pulling the "i'll kill you and everyone who's ever loved you" shit, like gorl ‼️‼️ calm down. you're 2 secs away from getting killed.
pae realizing that OMG SHE IS SPECIAL, SHE IS ✨THE CHOSEN ONE who can save the world and give justice to all beloved ordinaries—she seized the opportunity. i mean, ok OKAYYY SAMANTHA, YOU HAVE TO MARRY HIM AND ALL THAT'S JUST SO SAD, ISN'T IT? were it kai who brought up this marriage stuff, she would've rioted and planned to escape, but this time the 'greater good' won, and she agreed to marry.
then, for the loser people, she had to prove to them that she's fit for the queen, so obviously she took part in the trials again.
kinda surprised me with crossing the scorches and finding the dead queen's crown in one night. i read 4-5 chaps in reckless about her nearly dying while crossing scorches, and now she's very chill and only scared of darkness? bandits never found the queen's crown, but she did VERY EASILY? everything's so easy for her, isn't it?
i did love the whole shallows trial scene with kai and paedyn spending cute time together. also, you know he's obsessed with you to the point of madness when he just broke the illusion about her merely from noticing that her freckles are no more than ten. deduced that she's in danger and went all in to save her? DAMN
back again, the whole book was REPETITIVE AS FUCK. I REPEAT, REPETITIVE AS F. like, why would you say each sentence 197191 times?
"like the boy i grew up with" "father, who's not really my father" "my A, my Adena" "silver saviour"

I liked how direct this book is in delivering the scenes rather than exaggerating them. The groveling came quickly, this book starting right off from the ending of Book 1. Could they be any more perfect and strong? They're a literal warrior couple! I love them both so much as characters and their dynamic together. ♥️
Amara My heart hurts for what she's been through. I knew I'd like her after reading The Predator. She was so sweet yet so strong, I loved how she fiercely protected herself and her unborn child. I truly respect her; she's literal WIFE MATERIAL.
Dante He's the greenest red flag ever! Listen to me, this man is perfect! Not at all like other mafia men! He's not shy to express his feelings, needs, and unafraid to show affection. He's vulnerable at times and had an amazing personality in TP & TR. The way he cared for Amara and gradually fell in love with her by taking care of her. His words of affirmation, his respect for her boundaries, and how over the years he learned what gestures she's comfortable with I'M TRULY IN LOVE. If not for the story, then read this book for Dante. ...more

I didn't want to give this one a simple 3 lol, but 4 felt like I REALLY love this book. However, nah it was better than the first book of the duet, but the town mystery was so predictable. WHEN EXACTLY THAT PREDICTION CAME TRUE, I was kinda disappointed because everything was super obvious.

This book was filled with endless drama, constant push and pull, animosity between Kirill and Sasha, and a lot of miscommunication and trust issues. This book was good in its own accord, but I loved the others more!!
╰┈ FAKE DEATH DRAMA:
"Here are the days when I wonder why I’m still breathing when she isn’t."
After Kirill heard about the bombing on the cabin where Sasha was, he immediately went there, where he found a burned body that had her ring and bracelet, which he gave her, and the DNA was matched he thought she had died. He became a ghostly version of himself. He went on a killing spree, got drunk at her grave every night, and started imagining her presence. He constantly had thoughts of dying, but it wasn't until Maksim told him that SASHA IS ALIVE AND WANTS TO KILL HIM.
"She wants to kill me the next time she sees me? By all means. Anything for my beautiful wife."
"She also loved singing and kissing. But then she left and took away her hugs, her smiles, and even her infuriating arguments."
To be honest, I expected more from Kirill when he met Sasha. He was so calm at that time, and I wanted him to say something instead of being calm. But he threatened Sasha because he had captured Anton her brother, whom she found at the end of Book 2 and with whom she planned the fake death and execution plan for Kirill. So she had no choice but to go with him, but on the condition that she'd divorce him in 3 months.
Even though she shot him and ignored him for weeks and had that DON'T TOUCH ME RULE, when they went to the cabin, she gave in, and they spent weeks enjoying each other's company happily!
╰┈ EMOTIONAL DRAMA:
I don't know why Kirill was calling out Sasha for being an overthinker and leaving him because of her insecurities when he was the one who didn't talk to her about the fake marriage with Kristina his brother's wife. Like, please, she thought he had ended the engagement! I think Sasha was right because everything was slammed into her face at that moment.
"You went above and beyond hurting me back."
But what she did to him was super cruel, and Kirill was so badly TRAUMATIZED by that that he was constantly thinking of ways to never let her go. He knew he would lose her if he did something drastic, but he couldn't let her be alone either because he was afraid!
Sasha also had so many doubts, ugh, she constantly thought that Kirill would discard her because why not! He might love her, but he loves his power more, and the fact that she still has to take revenge!
╰┈ CONCLUSION:
I'm so glad the book ended well, and it was great! I wanted more scenes of Kirill taking care of Sasha during her pregnancy, but obviously, we don't always get what we want ...more

This book was amazing! I was hesitant to start this trilogy, but this book turned out to be super captivating. I enjoyed every second of reading it.
