Maybe it could have done with being longer to allow more room for characterisation? I don't know, lots of people seem to think this is the best thing ever, but 'overrated' was the word that sprang to my mind. Also, maybe it's because I don't have one, or maybe I just have defective empathy skills, but I found it quite off-putting the way the magistrate will NOT shut up about his penis.
