You successfully murdered the Author. The power is in your hands! Oh, well, not exactly, not really, not completely. The ultimate strength lies in the Writing itself. Of course, it's the Author who wrote the Writing, but the Writing doesn't belong to the Author; it's something free, has its own course, and can only be defined within itself. Does that make sense to you? Well, you actually might not be as powerful and cool as I made you seem. You can only exist by giving interpretations to the Writing, yet you'll never be able to fully comprehend it. Yeah, the Writing is the actual boss. We're all suckers. The end....more

Everything has already been written. You're the sum of everyone and everything that's been before you. And you gotta do some work, gotta sweat, gotta accept the fact that all of that follows you and it's stuck somewhere in the back of your mind. If you get to know your history, our history, the universal one, you become part of the Tradition. You are the Tradition. And it's good. It's perfect. It's a sense of belonging. Of course, you can still be original, and so on. But only by contributing to the Tradition. We've already discussed this, you are part of it and you can't get away from it. So don't be scared. Try to embrace it. And be smart. Contribute to it. It's wonderful to know that, even when you're unconscious of it, Homer and Dante and Shakespeare and Flaubert and Neruda are all present, right next to you, at every moment. They're not laughing at you for not being valuable, but are trying to express themselves through you, over and over, in a new way. You are the Inovation. You are the continuation of the Tradition. Speak your own language. Hug the legacy. It's proud of you....more
