1. I did not expect to love this book so much or completely align myself with a murderer. 2. Many elements were quite unrealistic, but I thought it was so well written that it didn't matter much. I just wanted to see what would happen next. 3. It would have been nice to know a bit more about the MC's motives for killing/kidnapping. Just a bit. 4. It also would have been nice to know what the hell he did to acquire his money because homeboy obviously had a healthy amount of it, unusual for someone whose main line of work is not a 9 to 5. 5. I did not buy the "romance" between the MC and Rachel. It was incredibly too fast. A woman you've known for a few weeks makes you have a change of heart during that short time period? The ending was perfect, leaving very few questions to be answered, and the ones that did remain left you feeling okay with having ambiguity. Having read 2 of Flynn's novels, I have only one question: does she write any likable characters? If it wasn't outright dislike, I felt an avid ambivalence for the characters, in this book and Gone Girl. That aside, she tells one hell of a story with so many questionable characters. ...more
