It is a part of my culture, heck, it is culture in itself. It is my hope to return to in times of distress, it is a shaper of my childhood. Satyajit Ray has been and forever will be my most favourite author, and Feluda will be the biggest reason for it. The books, each story, each novel is now classic of course, and I would do a huge injustice in attempting to 'review' it. For one cannot review their home.
I have read the series multiple times and I know I will always return to it. ...more

This book took me long to finish. But it came in its sweet time.. when the country is in lockdown. Like Morrie, we are all stuck in our houses. But unlike him we can still move around. What a privilege!
But you don't feel sorry for Morrie. He has gotten what he wanted, to give to the community, to love or die, to spread love, to teach, to do something that doesn't exploit others. He does it all through this book and the only person you'll feel sorry for will be yourself because you and I can't and won't get to live long beyond our deaths. To be never forgotten, thanks to this like binding of pages that's love in form of a book. Yes it teaches you but love is the most important lesson in the end of it all. Despite knowing how it will end, I still ended up with tears in my eyes. And that's rare with me and books....more

I read it in Lajpat Nagar. I read it in Khan Market. I read this book today through my college at Hauz Khas, metro from RK Puram to Nehru Enclave, metro stations, and finally as I was passing the park at East Of Kailash in the auto, I finished reading the book (yes, I even read it in auto in the chase to finish it). This has to be one of the best books I have read this year. William Dalrymple is a fantastic author with somehow both fluid and poetic writing. I have known that bit from Nine Lives. But this book was a completely new experience. He is a fantastic researcher as well. Flanked by his current day experiences during the stay in Delhi, WD takes us through the various episodes of Delhi's history. From the most modern to the oldest, the very foundation of the city. It is a travelogue, it has humour, and it has history, making it such a fun book to read. I wish there were more books like this. I have visited so many places in Delhi in my last 7-8 years here, but I want to visit them all again. And this time carry this book with me so that I can see what WD saw. Delhi has changed even more since this book was written. And with everything, it still is this glorious, beautiful city that I love. And I love this book....more

Ah the first book of the decade that I started to read.! This is my first Gaiman and although I've watched the TV show The Good Omens, the joy of reading this book was entirely different.
I got sucked in the world of London Below quite quickly. All the characters- Richard, Door, Hunter, de Carabas - they all seem to me people who I've known for years and it was an absolute thrill to see their journey. Gaiman's imagination truly is mind blowing! Absolute gem of a fantasy book that I read. The last one that made me get all in their world like this was Harry Potter!...more
3.5/5 September has been really good book-wise, for I could finish 3 in one month which is a rare treat for me. Before the Coffee Gets Cold was on my 3.5/5 September has been really good book-wise, for I could finish 3 in one month which is a rare treat for me. Before the Coffee Gets Cold was on my TBR for this year and I am not disappointed even though I won't go all out in praise. The translation might be where the depth of language is missed but the intricacy of the book was not lost. The interconnected stories, the varying emotions, it was a simple, pleasurable read.
The point of the book was also simple and put across nicely. Time travel is not a new concept in Japanese work (in my knowledge) but it always fascinates me to see the emotional play rather than the hardcore science of it.
The book was a good read, simple, nothing spectacular but that was the point of it....more
