Which is really not fair - most of the hotel staff as fine - we just only get to know them while the pov character is shitting on them. Eventually the story gets going and the back third is much faster than the front part. But the ending is abrupt and doesn't make the most amount of sense....more

This is that story, but not really. Instead it is a bit around a self-defense unit of women and their teacher in Jujitsu. And it was definitely a bit of a different tone. And a story that deserves more than just a couple of songs. Good enough writing and art. The men-folk are mostly awful.
And as a bonus the author's last name (at least one of them) starts with an X....more

The version I read was in color, which is how I first encountered Elfquest, and still what feels most familiar. This doesn't always feel polished. But it always feels true enough....more
