It would have been nice if this book continued the story from the previous volume. Instead we have a huge jump shift. And we are in San Francisco. Or maybe it is later and Hope has been born. Who can tell. At least Henry's relationship with Abigail apparently survived. Pretty good use of the characters. And Armor is a good add. But a bit more effort with continuity would have been appreciated. And perhaps a little more heart and soul. 3.5 of 5....more

But apparently many of the more popular well thought of graphic novels are memoirs - so at this point I've read a few. And hey when you are reading the best of something, it should be good. And this one was. However starting a book with an awful dental catastrophe and then dealing with Middle School, makes getting to high school look like a relief. Very readable and not cringe-worthy (except for the earliest part of the dental experience). Can't say this will ever be a favorite of mine, but I would have shared it with my kids. Certainly it gives a different and clear view of Middle School and friendship and growing up....more
