This is a new favorite of mine. I am loving the multigeneration-narrative and always feel so devastated, yet happy on how the stories are told. I was so intimidated by this book before picking it up for some reason - should have read it as soon as it came out. My thoughts on Meilin are quite simple: I love her. The role that she has upon Henry and Lily is so disturbing, but everything she did, and everything she went through to seek safety was just heartbreaking. ...more

What an impactful book. I just cannot express how intense this book actually was to make me put it down a couple of times so I could digest everything happening here. Even though I find this story to be extremely epic and heart breaker, there were some plot devices that I found a little anticlimactic or rather quick at the very end of the book....more

Just finished, and all I can say is that it's pretty good. I really enjoyed the atmosphere and its dark tone as the world and situation kept on expanding. As well as that constant metaphore of who the monsters and the angels are. The audiobook helped a lot; it would've been a real struggle for me to read it by myself. And since I am talking about the audiobook, the narrator deserves a raise because he did an amazing job. Regarding the plot, I would've preferred to have more interaction between Jam and Redemption, including both their families since that has a heaviness in the story. I don't know why I keep on thinking that this has what a like from Death Note and Alice in Wonderland. Pretty weird (in a good sense) but Also dark....more

I cannot believe how it took my emotions and shake them up. I really felt such a happiness, sadness, and quite satisfaction for having read it. The book is great into tackling some of the general conflict - I wish there had been more resolution with one of the side characters (Julian) - but outside of that it was great. I also think the change of povs was pretty interesting to consider.
The narrators of the audiobook were superb. I quite enjoyed mainly the narrator of August! It was like listening to a kid telling you all about it!...more

Holy Rollercoaster of emotions. Objectively speaking, my favorite so far is still Dream Thieves, but I loved this every single thing of it, that actually leaves me wanting for more. I would like to see more of Noah here. #NoahDeservesBetter ...more

This is the 4th book I read from Stephen King, and I loved it. One of the things, however, that didn't work for me was the introduction of the story. The first part was so slow with so many pieces of information that were difficult to swallow, but it was pretty worth as the story moved forward....more

For this 2020, I'll rate my books based on numbers as well, from 1 to ten. I feel it better that way, I don't know why. So this would be an awesome 8/10 for me....more
