I know what your thinking, why dock a 0.1 of a star? Well... My only flaw with this book is that some of the romance was a little cringey at 4.9 stars
I know what your thinking, why dock a 0.1 of a star? Well... My only flaw with this book is that some of the romance was a little cringey at time and thats saying a lot because I'm a hopeless romantic... BUT OTHER THAN THAT THIS BOOK WAS FUCKIN AWESOME!

Loved this book! so much happened! so much left to happen! It weird though... I feel like we are on the down fall here. I feel like we have hit the climax of the series and the two other books will slowly tidy things up and that makes me nervous because something probably going to happen in the next book AND I DON'T KNOW WHAT! NO IDEA! What in the WORLD will Sarah J Maas do next?!
I love how this book had a lot of big moments in it. I feel like a lot of books just focus on one big moment and save other big moments for other books in the series. BUT NOT SARAH! This book was a roller coaster of tension and "whats going to happen next" and "whos going to outsmart who?!" We have all learned by know to be terrified when anyone makes plans because they NEVER work out the way they are suppose to!!!
Love Manon even more now! I seriously always picture Abraxos as Toothless from How to Train Your Dragon for some reason ha! I really can't wait to see where she lands up and who side she will truly be on later in these books.
I also love Lysandra and who she is! she so kick ass and yessss just yes
I LOVE EVERYONE OK! seriously the characters are just so great. AND KALTAIN! no words! AND DORIAN YESSSS
Just in love with this series and cant even say enough about it! I read all the books in this series so far all this year and to have to take a big break and wait a WHOLE YEAR for the next book is going to be hard!! ...more
This book gives me vibes that reminded me of Hayao Miyazaki's movies along with the movie Snow White and the Huntsman (the latter mostly 4.75 Stars!
This book gives me vibes that reminded me of Hayao Miyazaki's movies along with the movie Snow White and the Huntsman (the latter mostly due to the enchanted, evil woods). It really does read like a fairy tail with underlying currents of deep friendship and slow burning romance (I LOVE THE DRAGON).
I love the plot, the characters, the magic, and the creatures in this book. I also LOVE how this is a fantasy STAND ALONE! Naomi Novik does such a wonderful job creating the world and developing the characters, especially our main character Agnieszka, in just one book. While I do enjoy reading a series, it is refreshing to read a book that has so much to it and is just a stand alone.
This book is really quite wonderful from beginning to end and just introduces the reader to such a unique and rememberable story. I only have some minor issues with the pacing of the book in certain areas but overall, this book really deserves all the attention it is getting....more
I'v heard nothing but amazing things about this book and how sweet and cute it is. But I was really underwhelmed... It did have its cute mo 2 stars
I'v heard nothing but amazing things about this book and how sweet and cute it is. But I was really underwhelmed... It did have its cute moments and its funny moments, I loved Beth and Jennifer's emails, but I found it lacking. While the story was very realistic, that's not what I was expecting from this book. I was expecting it to be a cute lovey dovey romance filled to the brim with cuteness and label it a "perfect romance" and it wasn't. I really did enjoy the characters and the plot it just wasn't what I hoped it would be. I read the back of this book and think it screams cute gushy romance but the book isn't that way in my eyes. I don't know... I liked this book but it just didn't deliver in the way I thought it would. ...more
For sure my favorite out of the series so far!! I loved all the perspectives in this book, especially Man oh man... 5 stars
This book... this book...
For sure my favorite out of the series so far!! I loved all the perspectives in this book, especially Manon's, and how it made the story so multidimensional. Loveddddd Rowen and Aedion too!! So much character development took place in this book, yessssss go Celaena goooo, along with Chaol and Dorian! And the ending was soooo good and just AHHHH!!! where are my words?!?!
I'm so glad I read this book so close to the release date of the next one because I seriously can't wait!!!...more

I liked this one a lot better than the first! There was so much action, drama, and suspense! So many questions answered and so many questions still linger in the air. This book also solidified my love for Chaol. Officially Team Chaol! even though... I have a strong feeling she will land up with Dorian at the end of all of this. This book was just full of mystery and action, perfect! The fighting scenes , the monsters, the everything!
Obviously cant wait to read on in the series! and the 4th one comes out in September! This series could go in any direction; its so exciting! ...more
I really liked the beginning and the bubbling romance and the different Fae Feyre encountered. I lo 3 Stars
idkkkk exactly how I feel about this book.
I really liked the beginning and the bubbling romance and the different Fae Feyre encountered. I love the places Sarah J Maas depicted in the world of Prythian. and I like Tamlin and Lucien and Alis and Feyre. I liked how the story lightly paralleled the Beauty and the Beast yet how it was its own story. the reveal of what the blith was was really cool and probably my favorite big moment in the book.
But the ending part... idk.. so many people were all "THE ENDING THE ENDING!" and I think that it put too many high expectations in my mind. umm... idk... I liked Rhysand and how we got to know him a lot more in the end. I can't choose who I like more, Rhysand or Tamlin. I'm in the middle. but the rest of it... IDK I liked all the tasks Feyre had to do were really intense and awesome to read about.. but to be honest I really didn't like the ending of the ending.... what happens to Feyre and all... idk. I just REALLY didn't like it... The only thing that makes me want to read on is to find out more about Hybern and Rhysand and I think that could make the next books a lot better than this one.
So overall, I really did enjoy the first probably the first 4/5th of this book but nothing really "wow"ed me and the ending... just ugggg no... It just didn't work for me....more
I'll start off by saying I docked it 1/4th a star because I got a little antsy around 60% when I felt like nothing was happen OH SO GOOD! 4.75 Stars!
I'll start off by saying I docked it 1/4th a star because I got a little antsy around 60% when I felt like nothing was happening... but aside form my impatiences...
Dang!! What a book!
This book isn't even 400 pages long, which I feel is average length, and V.E. Schwab makes you KNOW these characters. A lot of the time with shorts books I feel like we, as the reader, don't get a full scope of certain characters. But in this one, I feel like we get to know ELi and Victor in side and out. There were such evil and wicked characters! (DOWN RIGHT "VICIOUS") I also love Sydney and Mitch; they were probably my favorite characters. DOL TOO!
The science and the logic used to describe EOs and how they were "made" was so interesting to read and learn about as the characters themselves did too. it was simple, yet, in my opinion, believable.
I love the way this book is written from the way the book jumped from different parts of the past to the present down to the syntax and diction V.E. Schwab utilized. I don't know if it is all adult fiction, I haven't read very much of it, but I really enjoyed the sophisticated tone Schwab took on in this book.
OH AND THE ENDING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The ending was soo good AHHH! Just how everything was played out was just SO. WONDERFUL. I was actually really nervous around 60%, as I mentioned above, about not liking this book as much as everyone else had. Yes the plot was building, but I felt like it wasn't building fast enough. (which was stupid to think on my part and I wish I could go back in time and tell myself... Erica just wait) BUT I LOVED IT! The ending really topped this book off!
This book is short, but definitely NOT sweet! I feel like I haven't said enough about this book but I'll stop myself XD READ IT IF YOU HAVENT! or if you are stuck about half way through... PUSH THROUGH CUZ THE ENDING... THE ENDING! ...more
While I did enjoy Shahrzad and Khalid's relationship, along with the setting of the book, I found it lacking. I felt like hardly anything hap 3 Stars
While I did enjoy Shahrzad and Khalid's relationship, along with the setting of the book, I found it lacking. I felt like hardly anything happened in this book. At the end there is a clear idea of what is to come, and this does entice me to read the next book, but this first book underwhelmed me.
The book did keep me reading though...
The writing style was entrancing and the amount of story telling in this book really added a magical vibe.
I really liked reading about Shahrzad, Khalid, Despina, and Jalal, but I felt no connection to Sharhzad's father or her first love, Tariq. The author did not switch points of view enough for me to really connect to them. I wish we would of gotten more along with more understanding of the magic. I think it would of intensified the story a great deal.
I feel so left in the dark on too many aspects of the story that instead of making me want more, it left me frustrated. What every happened to Shahrzad's sister? Whats up with the magic and how does it work? What is Tariq's story? What is Jalal's background? or Despina's? I want to know more about Shahrzad and more about her family background etc. too. Also I felt like we were so closed off to just knowing about the palace where Shahrzad stayed. I want to know more about the surrounding kingdoms and whats going on there. I think the world really needs to expanded. Maybe, and hopefully, we will get more of that in the following books.
I sadly do not see why this book has accumulated so much hype. I do plan to read on though......more
I really enjoyed this book especially the ending. I love Dorian and Chaol both but I find myself liking Chaol just a tad bit more. I also lo 4 Stars!
I really enjoyed this book especially the ending. I love Dorian and Chaol both but I find myself liking Chaol just a tad bit more. I also loved Celaena!!! I usually dont find a girl main character that special, but Celaena was a massive exception. She was smart, and dangerous. I wish we saw more of her fighting in this book though. It started off strong with her training but Maas slowly eased away from showing us her trainer as the book progressed. I have a feeling the next book will have lots of Celaena action though!
A couple things did bother me about the book though. I though the passing of the book kind of slowed in the early middle half of the book. Nothing was really happening and I found myself questioning why people gave this book 5 stars. but around 70% through the book it picked up again and didn't slow down till the very last page! Another thing that kind of bothered me was some aspects of the magic especially near the end of the book. For some reason I just couldn't quite picture the scenes playing out nicely in my head when the magic came into play. Hopefully in the next book all of it will become more clear.
Overall I really enjoyed the characters of this book and majority of the plot. It wasn't quite what I expected which isn't necessarily a bad thing! Give this book a go if you haven't already! Celaena is kick ass and I can't wait to read the next one! ...more
DANG! this books had me from the very first page and didn't let me go till the end. What a page turner.
This book was definitely a book th 4 Stars!
DANG! this books had me from the very first page and didn't let me go till the end. What a page turner.
This book was definitely a book that laid the foundation for the others in the series. We learned to much about the characters, the world, the kingdoms, and its religion/stories filled with magic. I really likes the aspect of the Watchers and the power of elementia. While this book was complex, it was not confusing. I think this books was a wise choice for me to choose considering I am new to Fantasy. It eases you into the genera in a comfortable way which I appreciated.
I really enjoyed Morgan Rhodes writing style and how she utilized the multiple points of view. There were so many characters in this book but I felt like due to the split points of view, they all had an even amount of time in the spotlight for you as the reader to get to know this. Magnus was by far my favorite character and Limeros in general was my favorite place to read about because of the characters there. The king was so brutal and Sabina was so sly and evil. over in Auranos, I disliked Theon very much later in the book. I feel like all of a sudden he became soft and flowery, but I think Rhodes handles his situation very very nicely as the book progressed. I also didn't like Cleo very much till almost the end of the book when she finally showed some signs of strength and courage. I think I will grow to like her in the coming books, I hope. In Paelsia I really enjoyed how true Jonas stayed to his goals and how smart he was through out the book. He is harsh and dedicated. I fear he will lose his harsh edges that I think make Jonas Jonas in the coming books though, I hope I am wrong here. I also really enjoyed how each King of the kingdoms had a unique personality. While there are so many characters in this book Rhodes did a wonderful job by giving them each individual personalities.
Death was very prominent in this book, but that is not a complaint. I think the brutality of the book and the characters in it keep you on the edge of your seat cuz you realize no one is safe from death.
I highly recommend this book and I am definitely reading on in this series. The story is gripping and the covers are beautiful, what more could a book lover ask for?! ...more

this book was really great especially the last 80 pages! the reason it is a 4.5 and a total 5 stars is because it just didnt WOW me in the beginning. It was gripping but lacked the "wow" factor in the beginning. ...more
I enjoyed this book and how relatable and true it was to the high school atmosphere and experience. I really like the characters in the boo 3.5 Stars
I enjoyed this book and how relatable and true it was to the high school atmosphere and experience. I really like the characters in the book and how the story was told. I did find it a little too dark for my taste though. I realize that not everyone's experiences in life are always happy, rainbows and sunshine, but for me, I wanted it to be a little more up lifting and inspiring than it was.
this book really reminded me of Catcher in the Rye in how it has a flowing undefined plot and just follows a boy threw his adventures of life.
I cant wait to finally watch the movie and I recommend this book to anyways who wants a deep yet short read about life in high school and the many experiences that come with it! ...more
