it was amazing

Wow. I finished this book in rather a rush, as I had to attend a lesson but i re-read it later for the pure delight of hearing Humbert Humbert weave those self-effacing words into a poetic masterpiece . In fact, he described his writing himself as a 'maniac's masterpiece'. I think that definitely encapsulates the book. The disturbing and disconcerting nature of the plot and Humbert's carnal obsession juxtaposed with the beautiful, intricate and frankly exquisite narrative . I sympathised for the narrator the whole way through, which speaks volumes for the power of Nabokov's skill as a writer . I leave this book with complex moral questions; whether love is something that should transcend all ages , how suspicion is manipulated into sympathy and much more. Can't wait to read Pale Fire :)
