Red Queen (Red Queen, #1)
by
reading red queen was a frustrating process; i was very into the storyline, but everything else made me cringe. in my eyes, it was too cliché: mare comes from the slums, but suddenly becomes different; she's caught the attention of others and becomes the symbol of rebellion; also, there's a love triangle going on. why does it seem like i've heard this story before? though it was predictable, i still found it interesting to read.
i couldn't connect with any of the characters and felt the need to roll my eyes every other paragraph. they were unstable and temperamental. mare would either be extremely confident, snarky, and sassy; or the girl would do a complete 180, oozing with self-doubt and tears. the main male character would either be a complete asshole or extremely compassionate.. what?
i talked more about the plot, characters, love triangle, and overall thoughts! the entire review is spoiler-free!
