This book was absolutely fascinating. We meet Channary and Levana, along with Selene and Winter and even Jacin Clay as youngsters. I LOVE the names Marissa Meyer comes up with for her characters. Solstice is SO pretty. Anyway, this book as a whole is incredibly intense. We're treated to the entire story from Levana's point of view, and damn if she's not more infuriating with each sentence. I mean, you can see my updates. jfc. This woman is the literary incarnation of seeing a horrific car wreck and not being able to look away, even when you can see blood and bodies strewn all over the road. She disgusted me and terrified me, and I NEED to find stronger words than those because she is so awful.

This book is the perfect illustration of the phrase "TRAGIC BACKSTORY EXPLAINS BEHAVIOR BUT DOES NOT EXCUSE IT."

Gods. Give me Winter NOW.
