Fire (Graceling Realm, #2)

** spoiler alert **
This is a more mature novel than Graceling and less formulaic. Fire's telepathy was well-developed and not over-powered. I appreciated that this book was about non-traditional families and that Fire builds a loving family for herself without reproducing her dangerous powers.
I really appreciate that Fire has sex and it isn't a big deal, although I hate that her first boyfriend Archer is a man-slut but won't let her even talk to another man without getting jealous. I was so happy when she dumped him.
I have some of the same criticisms I had of Graceling: the world-building is a little more developed by still feels a little one-dimensional to me. Nobody seems to have a problem with monarchy as long as your monarch is a good guy or gal. People seem to inherit their biological father's talents in specific skills.
