Love, Rosie

This book was terrible terrible terrible. Cecilia Ahern really is a terrible writer. I found this book dull, pointless and disappointing. I really don't understand all of the raving reviews of this book. I'm hoping the film will be better. This is a less better written version of "One Day" by David Nichols. The story is practically similar to One Day. Love, Rosie is about two best friends, Rosie and Alex who are in love with one another but it takes decades for them to admit it to one another. Whenever they're on the verge of admitting their feelings for one another, a cruel twist of fate keeps them apart.
I just found the book completely tedious with pointless emails, letters and online conversations between the characters about their sad and dull lives. This book really was quite depressing to read and definitely a drag. It was more a mundane exchange of live events rather than a love story. I know the whole point of the story is to indicate that true love never fades, even if you have to wait until you're 50 to be together. Sorry, but that's far too long. There weren't even any juicy love scenes to spice things up.
I just found Rosie and Alex a bit pathetic just waiting around for one another and wasting time; it was really frustrating. Also I found the writing style very basic and not the most engaging. I only kept on going with the book because I was determined to read the book before I saw the movie. I really don't know what I bothered with this book. I didn't savour it; I just tried to plough through it as fast I could. 550 pages of utter rubbish!
Grade: F
