The Handmaid’s Tale (The Handmaid's Tale, #1)

I read this long ago, probably in the late 1980s not long after it was published. I remember it being pretty horrifying and "could never happen here" (dum, dum, dum, Drumpf)
I then saw the movie and loved it. Robert Duvall is always fantastic.
I watched 3 episodes of the TV series, and was very very disappointed, so many clichés, so heavy-handed. Ugh. Too bad.
I have been very curious about the sequel, The Testaments, but my top-to-read list is 208 books, my to-read list is 903 and I have 41 books actually on my iPad (Kindle) ready to read now. So. All this means I am unlikely to read the sequel.
