Wow. I'd never read anything by Emily St. John Mandel before and was extremely impressed and satisfied with this book. It has everything you can want in a novel-- skillful prose, interesting characters, an elaborate plot-- so many virtues; it's little wonder it is a finalist for the National Book Award. I'll definitely be reading more of Mandel's work.
