at times I hated myself for reading this. one of my bigger complaints is I'm definitely not a fan of her writing style in this book (maybe my tastes have changed?), adding to the fact that for at least half the book I wanted to throw it down and stop reading it altogether. I kept reading on the hopes that it would be a quick read (which it was) and that the ending would potentially make up for the parts I hated (which for me it did, though I could understand how it wouldn't for other readers).
she describes a painful and at times despicable situation in a very honest and vulnerable way, which at times makes some of her characters extremely unlikeable. still, this also makes the story more believable, and unlike in her first couple of books at least, there is no easy scapegoat villain, or easy answer that develops in two pages. still not sure who I could specifically recommend this book to, though it's good for a general recommendation for the random library patron looking for a new not-so-much-fluff romance novel.
