I'm sorry. I'm a big Little Women fan, and I really wanted to like this. But it plodded, plodded, plodded, and was incredibly depressing. I gave up on it around page 100.

I'm still waiting to read a Geraldine Brooks novel that I actually enjoy from start to finish. So far, I'm finding that she is interesting in spurts...but the spurts peter out too soon.
