I just couldn't find out what is so legendary about this book. The sole idea of a character who stays alive for so long and changes sex was fantastic. Then, as the book went on, I realised nothing changes there. Orlando did not notice any changes around her, nor she learned anything from the passing time. Her life involves no historical events. She doesn't spedn her time to know, compare and experience the changes in society, state, philosophy, art, social norms... at the very end she is the same person she was in XVI century, unaffected by the vast changes in all her surroundings which seems almost impossible! She learnt nothing and spent her long life mostly on contemplating her own self. Such potential this book had and so disappointed.
