Read 4 times. Last read July 28, 2024 to July 31, 2024.
I really enjoyed this book, maybe the most of all the Mercedes Thompson ones so far, although I've enjoyed them all. I thought it took a bit of a different turn with the animal spirits of the First Nations people and yet still including the fae and vampires. I was glad to see Stephan back to near-normal and the cameos of Kyle, Warren, Darryl and Jessie and Bran, but it was nice to read about Mercy and Adam - finally together and fighting side by side.
A very good read.
An addendum to my June 26, 2011 review: In July 2011 I went to San Diego Comic-Con and while crossing the main concourse between panels, I saw that Patricia Briggs was signing autographs and she didn't have a very long line, so I hopped into the line - bought two of her books (at that point I had borrowed them all from the library so didn't actually own any) for her to sign. We had a brief, but lovely, discussion about this book, mostly because I had read some negative things on here from readers who didn't like that most of the pack were not present in the book, whereas I thought it was appropriate that Mercy and Adam be alone on their honeymoon! I think she appreciated me telling her that.
Bought the paperbacks and re-read the whole series in June and July 2017 after borrowing the latest book from the library - waiting for the paperback. (July 2017)
Reread entire series in spring 2018.
Rereading entire series in 2024.
A very good read.
