The Brothers Karamazov

This is the book that taught me to love literature. Dostoyevsky had a talent for channeling his obsessions and passions into his prose, and using his characters to dissect moral and spiritual questions. I was floored by his ability to write hundreds of pages to describe a single afternoon, and keep the reader enthralled. Sometimes I miss the power that this book had over me, and consider picking it up again; some day, I'm sure I will.
